MEET THE PRESS is Most-Watched Sunday Public Affairs Hour

More viewers tuned into "Meet the Press" on Oct.13, 2013 than any other Sunday public affairs hour, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The NBC broadcast drew 3.059 million viewers and 887,000 viewers A25-54, topping the competition in total viewers and the key demo. Among the Sunday morning public affairs shows, "Meet the Press" had its best total viewer delivery since April 21, 2013 and posted the largest week-to-week growth in total viewers (+4%, or +104,000).

MTP delivered an additional 1.243 million total viewers and 517,000 A25-54 viewers with rebroadcasts - 604,000 total viewers and 296,000 A25-54 viewers on the network and 639,000 total viewers and 221,000 A25-54 viewers on MSNBC.

In Washington, DC, MTP averaged 97,000 total viewers (3.3/10HH), +126% more than This Week's 43,000 (1.4/4), +149% ahead of Face The Nation's 39,000 (1.4/4), and +185% ahead of Fox News Sunday's 34,000 viewers (1.1/3).

Highlights:

• MTP averaged 3.059 million total viewers, +8% (+219,000) more than This Week's 2.840 million, +22% (+549,000) more than Face the Nation's 2.510 million, and +138% (+1,774,000) ahead of Fox News Sunday's 1.285 million.

• In homes, MTP delivered a 2.2 rating and 6 share, ahead of This Week 's 2.0/6, Face the Nation's 1.8/5, and Fox News Sunday's 0.9/3.

• In rating A25-54, MTP delivered a 0.7 rating, +1 tenth ahead of This Week and Face the Nation's 0.6, and +3 tenths more than Fox News Sunday's 0.4.

• MTP averaged 887,000 A25-54 viewers, +139,000 more than This Week's 748,000, +208,000 more than Face The Nation's 679,000, and +453,000 more than Fox News Sunday's 434,000.

• This marks MTP's best total viewer delivery since April 21, 2013.

• MTP posted the largest week-to-week growth in total viewers (+4%, or +104,000).

• MTP posted its biggest advantages over This Week in total viewers since September 1, 2013 and in A25-54 (000) since June 2, 2013.

Sunday's edition of "Meet the Press" featured an exclusive interview with International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde; a discussion on the government shutdown with Senators Rob Portman (R-OH) and Dick Durbin (D-IL); an interview with Fmr. Secretary of Defense and CIA Director Leon Panetta; a financial update from CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin; and a political roundtable featuring co-anchor and managing editor of the PBS Newshour, Judy Woodruff, Washington Post Columnist Kathleen Parker, former Rep. Harold Ford (D-TN), and NBC News Chief White House Correspondent and Political Director Chuck Todd.
