After taking North Texas by storm as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl last season, Kristin Dausch returns to Lyric Stage to star as Flora in FLORA THE RED MENACE. Performances are February 11-26 in the Irving Arts Center's Dupree Theater, 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd, Irving TX.

FLORA THE RED MENACE was the first Broadway collaboration of John Kander and Fred Ebb, the team that would go on to write the Broadway and Hollywood hits Cabaret and Chicago. Nineteen year old Liza Minelli won her first Tony Award for her Broadway debut starring as Flora.

FLORA THE RED MENACE follows headstrong wannabe fashion illustrator Flora Mezaros, a member of an artists' co-operative of bohemian types struggling to find work during the Depression. Hoping to find a job paying at least $15 a week, she is hired by a large department store for $30. Flora falls in love with Harry Toukarian, another struggling artist, who attempts to convert her to his Communist ideals. Even though it compromises her job at the department store, Flora seeks to hold down both job and relationship. Rarely seen and not widely known, Flora is a hidden gem of a musical.

In addition to Kristin Dausch as Flora, Lyric Stage's production also features Danielle Estes, Katharine Gentsch, Jeff McGee, Doug Miller, Thomas Christopher Renner, Calvin Roberts, Jaclyn Stapp and Keith J. Warren. Anne Nieman will direct and choreograph the production with musical direction by Scott A. Eckert. Sound design is by Bill Eickenloff, costume design is by David Blades, lighting design is by Julie Moroney and properties are by Jane Quetin.

Performances of FLORA THE RED MENACE are February 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 & 26 @ 8:00 PM and February 13, 20 & 26 @ 2:30 PM in the Irving Arts Center's Dupree Theater, 3333 N.
