London Theatre Workshop to Open New Boutique Theatre in Fulham with ORDINARY DAYS, March 10

London Theatre Workshop is delighted to announce that it will be opening the doors to a new, fully functional, 65 seat boutique theatre in the heart of Fulham, on 10 March, 2014.

The space sits above a completely refurbished Bar and Brasserie, the Eel Brook (formerly the Southern Cross), at 65 New Kings Road, London, SW6 4SG.

"I am thrilled we have convinced Greene King, the landlord of this beautiful building, that London Theatre Workshop could really make something of the space. A redevelopment of the entire building, which itself was the home of Lord Peterborough, will restore the building to its former glory. The Artistic Policy of the London Theatre Workshop will focus on the following:

The reappraisal of classic drama;
The reimagination of the musical;
The celebration of classic stories and storytelling.

Its first season, running from March to July, 2014; will see a revival of the classic Eugene O'Neill play Ah, Wilderness, the UK professional premier of Harvey Fierstein and John Bucchino's Broadway musical A Catered Affair, a new celebration of Stephen Sondheim's love songs, Just Another Love Story, and a new piece of writing, exploring the myth of celebrity that surrounds famed film-star Judy Garland.

The first production of the London Theatre Workshop will be Ordinary Days, music and lyrics by Adam Gwon, one of musical theatre's most exciting new composers. Ordinary Days is a refreshingly honest and funny musical about making real connections in the city that never sleeps; as it follows four New Yorkers as they search for fulfilment, happiness love and belonging.

The cast includes Oliver Watton (Olly Larkin in Channel 4's "Hollyoaks", Fiyero in "Wicked", Apollo), Marcia Brown (Squeaky Fromme in Sondheim's "Assassins", Pleasance), Anton Tweedale and Olga-Marie Pratt. Oliver says:

Ordinary Days is directed by Artistic Director Ray Rackham, with Musical Direction by Tom Lees. Tom says: "I first met Ray during his run of 'Assassins' at the Pleasance Theatre. I was hugely impressed by the show and kept going back to see it again. I was, and still am, very excited to be able to work alongside Ray, particularly in this wonderful new space".

Ray Rackham directed and produced Barbara Cook's Sondheim based concert Happily Ever After at the Fortune Theatre, also starring Daniel Evans, Louise Gold, Liz Robertson and Sally-Ann Triplett. Ray has previously directed Tennessee Williams' The Pretty Trap (Drayton Theatre); Assassins (Pleasance MainStage); Company (Barons Court and Pleasance), Follies (Pleasance), In Days of Hope (Actors Church). As a producer, Ray was an associate for the Palladium production of Follies, which starred Maria Friedman, Phillip Quast, Tim Flavin, Liz Robertson, Imelda Staunton, Liliane Montevecchi and Dam Josephine Barstow; and the 30th Anniversary production of Side by Side by Sondheim, starring the original Side by Siders, Julia McKenzie, Millicent Martin, David Kernan and Ned Sherrin.

Before moving into its new home, London Theatre Workshop has previously produced Four by Tenn, a repertory celebration of Tennessee Williams' early one-act plays, which received critical acclaim and great success at the Drayton Theatre.

Ordinary Days was originally produced in New York City by Roundabout Theatre Company and presented at the National Alliance for Musical Theatre's Festival of New Musicals in 2008.
