Hal Linden has been tapped to star as the legendary theorist in Crispin Whittell's Darwin in Malibu, which will be presented at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, Long Island from August 15th through September 3rd.

The production will also star Anna Chlumsky, best known for her work in the My Girl films and whose New York theatre credits include Balm in Gilead and The Changeling.  Actor Daniel Gerroll ( Enchanted April, High Society) directs.

"The place is Malibu. The time is now. Charles Darwin is relaxing on a deck chair overlooking the Pacific . . . suddenly he's joined by two unlikely contemporaries. The debate over evolution, begun over a century ago, continues anew in this hilarious new comedy," state Bay Street notes on the production, which will be receiving its American premiere.

Linden is a Tony Award-winner for his performance in the musical The Rothschilds, while other Broadway credits include The Gathering, Cabaret, The Sisters Rosensweig, I'm Not Rappaport, The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window, Three Men on a Horse, Ilya Darling, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever and Bells Are Ringing.  He is also known as the star of TV's "Barney Miller."
