Honolulu- Les Dames d'Escoffier Hawaii Chapter announced its "Green Table" event in partnership with Waialua High School Culinary class and Project Localize. The purpose of "Food for Thought" is to raise awareness in the Waialua and Greater North Shore Community to focus on the meaning of organic, local and locavore, and how these are associated with sustainable foods, farming practices and community.

The goal is to help families make healthy, informed choices within their local neighborhood and beyond. Green Table is also be part of the 2nd annual Instagram photo contest entitled "Know your farmer, know your food."

At the Green Table "Food for Thought" event there will be food and produce for sale, cooking demonstrations with recipes, exhibits and activities for keiki showcasing community farmers, ranchers and food vendors. There will also be a thirty-minute presentation by University of Hawaii - West Oahu professor, Dr. Albie Miles, on a new four-year degree program in Sustainable Community Food Systems. Les Dames members, chefs and culinary students will present recipes and snacks that are healthy, nutritious and ono. For more information contact Marsha Taylor at waialuaculinary@gmail.com.
