Laura Bell Bundy to Perform 'Giddy On Up' at Academy of Country Music Awards, 4/18

Tony nominee Laura Bell Bundy will perform "Giddy On Up," a song from her upcoming album, at the Academy of Country Music Awards, according to a report from People.com. The ceremony will be held on April 18 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will be hosted by Reba McEntire. The awards will be broadcast live on CBS.

Bundy received a Tony Award nomination for her role as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde and also starred on the show's national tour. Her other stage credits include Wicked, Hairspray, Ruthless! The Musical, Gypsy, and The Sound of Music. She also starred on the CBS daytime series Guiding Light.

Laura Bell Bundy's major label debut album Achin' And Shakin' is slated for release April 13 on Mercury Nashville. The infectious lead single "Giddy On Up" has been described as "a breath of fresh air" and "nothing short of a new female anthem" amongst industry critics since the premiere of the music video on January 18.

"Giddy On Up" has received almost 1 million streams in a month and has sold over 30,000 digital singles.

In addition to the astounding web buzz, numerous radio markets have jumped on board and added Bundy's single to total over 28 stations countrywide in just 3 weeks.

"Giddy On Up" is the number one requested song at KILT, in Houston," said Jeff Garrison, PD KILT, VP of Country Programming, CBS.

Other top stations such as San Antonio's KAJA, Houston's KKBQ, San Jose's KRTY, Minneapolis's KEEY, Chicago's WUSN, Portland's KWJJ and KUPL, Denver's KYGO and both Phoenix station's KNIX and KMLE are in full support of the single some spinning it over 30 times a week.

Laura Bell Bundy has been performing lead and feature roles in New York and in Regional Theater since the age of nine. She is most familiar to Broadway audiences for originating the roles of Elle Woods in LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL, and Amber Von Tussle in the Tony Award winning musical, HAIRSPRAY, as well as a stint as Glinda in the smash hit, WICKED. In addition to her work in the theater, Ms. Bundy has also appeared as Marah Lewis in "Guiding Light" from 1999-2001 as well as guest appearances on "Cold Case," "Veronica Mars," and Comedy Central's "Strangers With Candy."
