According to Deadline, RESCUE ME's Larenz Tate has signed on for USA's upcoming freshman drama RUSH as a series regular.

The series, from writer/director Jonathan Levine, along with FOX 21 and Little Engine's Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo, is lead by Tom Ellis. RUSH is a fast paced Hollywood drama centered around Dr. William Rush (Ellis). Rush is not your average on-call doctor, he's highly discreet no matter what the ailment, as long as the client can pay his cash-only premium, and the doctor can party with the best of them. He has no desire to change his life or how he lives it, until an old flame and his conscience begin to stir things up.

Tate will take on the role of "Dr. Alex Thomas, Rush's best friend dating back to medical school and one of the few constants in his life. Unlike Rush, Alex is a man with a plan - he works as a high-ranking physician at one of Los Angeles' top hospitals and appears to have the ideal family life that Rush has long resisted."

Tate has appeared on Showtime's House of Lies, Crash and Ray. He is best known for his breakthrough performance in the Hughes brothers' 1992 film Menace II Society. He also starred as '50s crooner Frankie Lymon in the biopic Why Do Fools Fall in Love? His other feature film credits include Dead Presidents, The Inkwell and The Postman. On television, he starred most recently on three seasons of the hit drama series Rescue Me as Bart "Black Shawn" Johnston, and has appeared in The Royal Family, South Central and Love Monkey. He'll soon be seen in the upcoming BET movie Gun Hill. Tate has also ventured into directing with his commercial directorial debut for Conjure Congnac, starring Ludacris.
