Lakewood Theatre Company Announces WHITE CHRISTMAS Auditions

Lakewood Theatre Company will be having open auditions on SATURDAY, JUNE 4 and SUNDAY, JUNE 5, 2011 for the musical, White Christmas. The production, a Portland area premiere, is directed by Dan Murphy and the musical director is Steven Alexander. Call 503-635-3901 to reserve an audition slot.

The director is seeking: 11 men and 10 women, ages 18-50, for the cast. All performers receive remuneration. No children will be cast at this audition.

Audition Location: Lakewood Theatre Company at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.

Materials Needed: Please bring a resume, a current 8X10 glossy photo, and prepare a Broadway /Irving Berlin song in the correct key for your voice (no contemporary, pop, rock). An accompanist will be provided. Please, no recorded music or accapella singing. Please note: you may be asked to sing from the score at the audition.

Performance Schedule: White Christmas opens Nov. 4, 2011 and continues through December 18, 2011. Performances are Thurs-Sat at 7:30 PM, Sundays at 7:00 PM (Nov. 6, 13, 20, 27 and Dec. 11), Sunday matinees (Nov. 13, 27, Dec. 4, 11 and 18) and one Wednesday 7;30 PM performance (Nov. 30). Lakewood Theatre Company features an intimate 220-seat theatre located at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.

About the Play: White Christmas comes to the stage at last, as a brand new Irving Berlin musical direct from Broadway. Brimming with such Berlin hits as "Blue Skies," "How Deep is the Ocean?" "Sisters," "Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep," and of course, the unforgettable title song, "White Christmas." Irving Berlin's White Christmas is based upon the Paramount Pictures film written for the screen by Norman Krasna, Norman Panama, and Melvin Frank. Music and lyrics by Irving Berlin. Book is by David Ives and Paul Blake.

The Story: Two army buddies, Bob and Phil, have a successful song-and-dance act after the war. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters (Betty and Judy) to a Christmas gig at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by their former Army commander, General Waverly. The boys soon realize they are the only guests at the resort because there is no snow! In order to help the General, they come up with a scheme to bring in a crowd. A Portland area premiere!
