Hotel C'est L'Amour, a new musical with songs by Michael John LaChiusa, will have its world premiere in California this fall.

Presented by the Blank Theatre Company in Los Angeles, Hotel C'est L'Amour is described by press notes as "a musical Rorschach Test; open to your interpretation" that "takes you to a magical honeymoon suite where a young bride and groom try to release their separate pasts in order to begin their married life together." Conceived and directed by Daniel Henning, the company's artistic director, the show will be comprised of material from LaChiusa's work--both produced and unproduced.

LaChiusa's Bernarda Alba, based on the Federico Garcia Lorca classic, is currently in previews at Lincoln Center, while his See What I Wanna See recently played The Public Theater. Other works that have been staged in New York include The Wild Party, Hello Again, Little Fish, The Petrified Prince (at the Public Theatre) and First Lady Suite. Other shows such as The Highest Yellow (loosely based on the life of Vincent Van Gogh) and the opera Lovers and Friends have been produced regionally.

The Blank Theatre Company's 2006 season will also include Holly Hicks Jr.'s comedy A Hole in the Dark, directed by Darin Anthony (from April 18th through May 28th, 2006), and Kira Obolensky's Lobster Alice--a play based on a real-life collaboration between Salvador Dali and a Walt Disney studio animator--directed by Henning (summer of 2006). Amy and David Sedaris' The Book of Liz is currently a hit at the theatre.

The Blank Theatre Company performs at the 2nd Stage Theatre (6500 Santa Monica Blvd.). Call (323) 661-9827 or visit www.TheBlank.com for subscriptions and tickets.
