Little Radical Theatrics (LRT), a newly-established independent theater company for high school and college-aged performers, brought its inaugural production to the stage in August 2009. It was founded on the belief that there is not a strong enough outlet for artists just out of high school through their formidable college years. Many performers feel that their talents go unrecognized beyond youth and educational theater. In response, a new independent theater company was established.

LRT's goal is to garner interest and esteem by presenting, preserving and re-imagining productions of classic entities, and providing a canvas for the lesser-known, oftentimes under appreciated titles that may be labeled "too quirky, dark, challenging, and/or unsuitable for young(er) performers" -- the kind of stage shows that are rarely done with other performing arts organizations.

Through its Radical Reach-Out Initiative via Facebook and other outlets, LRT continues to search for new talent and hopes to expand its influence on the community and theatrical landscape.

All of LRT's productions are fully-funded, musically staged, orchestrated and directed solely by company members, talking to all facets of the creative and performance processes, underscored by an amicable approach, making and embracing contributions toward a common goal -- promoting talent. The company continues to grow, having learned exactly what it takes to get a successful production up and running while maintaining solid production values and, most importantly, creating a stable and enjoyable working environment for all involved.

 

This summer, Little Radical Theatrics will present Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's musical thriller SWEENEY TODD: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Play Group Theatre in White Plains from June 18-20, 2010.
