According to the LA Times, Reprise Theatre has officially closed its doors after a long hiatus since 2012.

Founded in 1997, it has failed to raise the necessary funds to keep it running. Reprise sent an email to subscribers this week notifying them that the company is ceasing operations. "We spent the past sixteen months on hiatus to explore different sources of funding, possible new venues, and the potential of expanding our programming," the email said.

Reprise was founded in 1997 by Marcia Seligson as a home for great musical theatre in Los Angeles. In the beginning, they were dedicated to producing rarely revived, classic Broadway musicals. Since 1997, they have produced an annual season of three to four shows for their Southern California audience including their very loyal subscriber base. Beyond the main season productions, they have also produced numerous special events including the 20th Anniversary Concert of SWEENEY TODD, HAIR, and FOLLIES. They also have presented numerous staged readings of ASSASSINS, BABY, ELEGIES and WORKING.

The greats of the musical theatre world have also graced our stage in numerous solo concerts. They include Carol Burnett, Patti LuPone, Ben Vereen, Kristin Chenoweth and Brian Stokes Mitchell.

Reprise is a professional not-for-profit theatre company and is not affiliated with UCLA.
