Ladies of the Camellias, written by Lillian Groag and directed by co-artistic director Gary Rucker will be next on the Main Stage at the multi-award-winning Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts on the Main Stage running today, March 14 - 29, 2014.

The diva of all farces, Ladies of the Camellias rivals two women like Bette Davis vs. Joan Crawford or Madonna vs. Lady GaGa, but this hilarious farce is about an imagined meeting in Paris, in 1897 between the famous theater divas Sarah Bernhardt and Eleanora Duse. The two actresses-who were the biggest and most temperamental stars of their day -were scheduled to perform back-to-back productions of the play, The Lady of the Camellias in the same theater. The members of both acting companies expect huge fireworks between the two grande dames, and do what they can to avoid them meeting. Once they do, these two women, with the aid of their staff of eccentric theater folk will stop at nothing to be the last diva standing. Just the right touch of slapstick, witty tongue and glamour!

"Ladies of the Camellias is a smart and extremely funny show," says director Gary Rucker. "It will appeal to so many different audiences with its fascinating look behind the scenes of the lives and behaviors of theater people in the same vein as Noises Off which was a huge hit for us. Theater professionals and those savvy with the theater arts will love it on a whole other level!"

Rucker has assembled a cast of talented actors who are no strangers to Rivertown and other stages in the metropolitan New Orleans area.
