To cap the holiday season, the Los Angeles Master Chorale presents two performances of Handel's Messiah on Sunday, December 15, 2013, 7 pm, and Sunday, December 22, 2013, 7 pm.

Music Director Grant Gershon conducts 48 members of the acclaimed chorus, chamber orchestra and four gifted soloists from among the Chorale's ranks - Anna Schubert, soprano, Callista Hoffman-Campbell, mezzo soprano, John Russell, tenor, and Abdiel Gonzalez, baritone. The concert provides the opportunity to hear this riveting oratorio - filled with soaring high notes, powerful bass, majestic brass and luscious orchestrations - performed by what many critics consider to be the best chorus in the country.

Composed in 1741 in a mere 24 days, Handel's English-language oratorio, may be the most performed classical work of all time. The Baroque masterpiece is set to the libretto by Charles Jennens, who drew texts from the King James and Great Bibles.

"Handel's Messiah has become a beloved holiday staple, the vocal equivalent of a holiday tree-topper," says Gershon. "It is a particular treat to hear it performed at Disney Hall with its magnificent acoustics."

Tickets range from $29 - $119. Group rates are available. For tickets and information, call (213) 972-7282, or visit www.lamc.org.
