Keystone Repertory Theater in Indiana, PA will wrap up it's summer 2014 season at the end of July with SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET and THE GLASS MENAGERIE.
Having started their season in May with THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES and the Pennsylvania premiere of HANDS ON A HARDBODY, the company took a quick hiatus while Footlight Players, IUP's Theater-for-Youth summer camp was in full swing.
First up in the second half of the season is SWEENEY TODD, the bloodthirsty musical about a wrongfully imprisoned barber who returns to London ready to seek revenge on those who took everything he loved away from him. With an epic score by Stephen Sondheim and a terrifying book by Hugh Wheeler, this thrilling and wildly popular story will delight horror fans. Directed by KRT Artistic Director Nick Hrutkay (IUP '11), who was at the helm of KRT's other bloody productions MACBETH, EVIL DEAD and BAT BOY. Closing out KRT's 2014 season is the beautiful and poetic play by the immortal Tennessee Williams, THE GLASS MENAGERIE. This memory play features Southern belle, Amanda, past her prime, living with her two grown children. Amanda dreams of a better life for her shy and crippled daughter, therefore she pushes her son to find a "gentleman caller" for the girl. However, the arrival of the gentleman caller sends shockwaves through the family and causes cracks to form in the delicate fantasies that have kept them going. IUP Theater Alumni Derrick Shane ('14) directs this American classic for its 70th anniversary.Videos
