Kaufman Music Center's 2016 Broadway Close Up series concludes on Mon, Dec 5 with an evening of songs by the great Frank Loesser. Music director David Loud (The Visit, Scottsboro Boys, Lyrics & Lyricists series) leads a cast including Tony nominees Kate Baldwin (Finian's Rainbow) and Liz Callaway on an unforgettable tour of Loesser's classic Broadway shows as well as earlier songs written with composers like Jule Styne and Hoagy Carmichael.

Called the most versatile of all Broadway composers, Loesser took a circuitous route to Broadway, making a name for himself in Hollywood writing lyrics for film songs before he began writing his own music during WW II. He wrote standards including "On a Slow Boat to China," "Two Sleepy People," "Heart and Soul," and his 1948 Academy Award winner, "Baby, It's Cold Outside" among many others. Beginning in the late 1940s, he took Broadway by storm with four huge hit shows: Where's Charlie?, Guys and Dolls, The Most Happy Fella and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

With Tony nominees Kate Baldwin (Finian's Rainbow) and Liz Callaway, Ann Hampton Callaway, Matthew Scott (Sondheim on Sondheim), Allison Blackwell and cabaret star Marilyn Maye. Directed by Marcia Milgrom Dodge.
