Ten Time MAC Award Winner, Karen Mason (Wonderland, Mamma Mia!) and Three Time Emmy Nominee, Colleen Zenk (As The World Turns) will be kicking off the first two events at CAP21 this summer, as part of their benefit series Concerts for CAP21. CAP21 is an award winning Theatre Company, which earlier this year, won the 2012 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding New York Theatre. The series will directly benefit the CAP21 Theatre Company Fund and the CAP21 Conservatory Scholarship Fund. All concerts will be performed as Cabarets and certain performances will include receptions that are available to ticket-buyers. Performances at the intimate (78 seat) CAP21 Theatre are June 19-21 (Colleen Zenk), July 17-19 (Karen Mason), July 23 (Debra Barsha, Jersey Boys and Michael Winther, Mamma Mia) and July 30 (Meghan Duffy, Original Cast of Grease). CAP21 is located at 18 West 18th Street, New York, NY 10011. Tickets, ranging from $25 - $100, and additional information are available at www.cap21.org or by calling 646.213.5488.

CAP21, whose alumni include Lady Gaga (Grammy Winner) and Matthew Morrison (Glee), is devoted to the creation of new musicals in its Theatre Company and devoted to developing new talent it the Conservatory. As the organization approaches their 20th anniversary, the concert series celebrates all of the accomplishments the organization has had and the goals of the future.

Over 100 alums of the conservatory have performed on Broadway and hundreds more have performed off-Broadway, national tours, and performed in film and television. Notable Alums include Nikki James (Tony Winner Book of Morman), Cristin Milioti (Tony Nominated for Once), and Bobby Steggert (Tony Nominee Ragtime).

CAP21’s Theatre Company Production, Southern Comfort received several accolades and awards and was called, “a heartfelt bid to shift perceptions” (New York Times).

“These artists are fantastic entertainers” says Artistic Director, Eliza Ventura. Concerts for CAP21 is a series of exciting fundraising events to support incoming students to our Conservatory and to develop and produce new musicals in our Theatre Company. The audience has the opportunity to help achieve our mission while also having a great time.”
