Lover, Liar, Lady the women of kander and ebb, conceived and directed by Steven Yuhasz, begins performances August 22. It will be presented by the New Provincetown Players at the Provincetown Theatre (238 Bradford Street) inProvincetown, MA through September 3rd with performances Tuesday through Sunday at 7:30pm.
"Yuhasz began with a canon of 85 songs with music and lyrics by the legendary John Kander and Fred Ebb and selected approximately 30 songs illuminating and connecting the dreams and reality of the passionate women who inhabited their Broadway shows. These songs by the theatre's premiere musical poets and the longest running writing team in musical theatre, explore the endless possibilities of survival these women face in their complicated lives," state press notes.
A concert version of the musical was presented to success in June at the Stamford Center of the Arts as part of the new works series. "It was very gratifying that the audience really embraced this idea of presenting the women's songs. The audience was amazed of all the music that they did not know from the shows of Kander and Ebb. I am thrilled to have an opportunity to explore this concept and the support on all levels has been tremendous," stated Yuhasz. Guy Wolf, Producing Artistic Director of the New Provincetown Players, said "When Steven told me about his idea for the revue of the women of Kander and Ebb, we committed to a date on the spot. Our audiences love Kander and Ebb."
