After being developed at the 2013 Eugene O'Neill Cabaret Conference, Backstage Bistro award winner Justin Daniel returns to the NYC cabaret scene with his show officially alive. Performances are April 21 and 28, 7pm at the Duplex in NYC's Greenwich Village. $15 cover/2 drink minimum.

Officially alive chronicles the unfolding and often bizarre road towards gay fatherhood. After getting married and deciding to pursue parenthood through surrogacy, the show delves into the awkward conversations, difficult choices, and the defining moments of life.

All of this is told with an eclectic musical lens that brings together the music of David Bowie, John Mayer, Stephen Sondheim, and many more.

With multiple MAC Award recipients Scott Coulter (Broadway By The Year) and Michael Holland (Godspell 2011 Revival) directing and music directing respectively, the show promises to be a musically adventurous, funny, and touchingly honest account of what it means to be "officially" alive in the 21st century.

Justin Daniel's credits include NBC's Ed, Comedy Central's Strangers With Candy, Robert DeNiro's The Good Shepherd, and many stage credits across the country. His cabaret debut quarterlife crisis was given the Backstage Bistro Award and a MAC nomination. His previous cabaret performances have been described as "sheer joy from start to finish" (Cabaret Scenes) with a "sincerity beyond his years" (Backstage). He lives in Brooklyn, NY with his husband Josh.
