June is swinging at Blue Note Hawaii, the state's premier venue for the world's most celebrated artists, kicking off with the Squirrel Nut Zippers, George Kuo, Henry Kapono, Keller Williams, Livingston Taylor, Capleton & The Prophecy Band and multi GRAMMY Award-winners Manhattan Transfer, back by popular demand.

A 15% kama'aina discount is available to residents for most shows. This is available online with code MAHALO15, as well as in person at the box office. Parking is validated at the OHANA East Hotel for $6 for four hours.

Squirrel Nut Zippers

Finding commercial success during the Swing Revival of the late 90s, Squirrel Nut Zippers are a fusion of blues, gypsy jazz and 1930s swing. In honor of the 20th anniversary of the release of the band's highest selling album Hot, founding members Jimbo Mathus and Chris Phillips, crafted a brand-new stage show and lineup, featuring leading musicians from New Orleans to serve up the bands unique musical flavor which owes its roots to that city.

George Kuo

Playing in the traditional nahenahe (sweet/soothing) style, George Kuo is Hawaii's premiere Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar artist. Recognized twice in excellence with recording achievement by the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts. Some career highlights have been with playing on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion show and performing at the Hollywood Bowl with the Honolulu Symphony.
With Special Guests: Aaron Mahi, Pomaika'i Lyman and Greg Sardihna. Celebrating the legacy of the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame. George, Aaron and Pomaikai's mother Genoa Keawe are inductees and we would be performing the music of our inductees. This honor is the highest level of traditional Hawaiian music that would be presented to the public.

Blue Note Comedy Series: Andy Bumatai's Hana Hou Show

Back by popular demand! Hawaii's Natural High presents the next installment of the Blue Note comedy series, featuring Hawaii comedy legend Andy Bumatai with opener Kaleo Pilanca.
Andy Bumatai has been a comic & businessman in Hawai'i for over 35 years. He's owned a nightclub, a chain of cell phone stores and an interest in one of the original ISPs in Hawai'i. After a bout with throat cancer Andy is now back to performing stand up comedy. As Andy puts it "I'm one of the few people with a show business career to fall back on in case my day job doesn't work out."

Friday, June 9 - Maoli
Starting in their sophomore year with encouragement from their teacher, Maoli (meaning "Native" in Hawaiian) was formed by Gleen Awong and Kana Akiu-Corpuz. Since then, Maoli has produced hit after hit like "No One" and "Breaking My Heart" continuing their ever evolving style and sound.
Saturday, June 10 - Ekolu
Losing to a ballerina dancer their high school talent show didn't deter Ekolu to keep doing what they love. In 1999 "Down in the Valley" became their first hit. Making Ekolu not only famous in Hawaii but also allowed their Hawaiian, island, reggae music to get popular on the mainland as well.
Sunday, June 11 - Ho'aikane
Originally formed in 1983, Ho'aikane is a constantly changing band with a consistently evolving sound. Not only have they played Hawaiian, Slack Key, Island Music, Jawaiian, Island Reggae, Reggae, but they even played Country music and Dance Hall.

Henry Kapono's Artist to Artist Series: The Songs of C&K

GRAMMY nominated & multiple award-winner Henry Kapono presents an intimate and unique "Artist to Artist" concert series. The series kicks off with The Songs of C&K, where Henry and friends will perform hits from the iconic 1970s group Cecilio and Kapono.
Kapono is a thrilling performer, vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, composer, and an audience favorite. He has taken home 14 Na Hoku Hano Hano Awards (Hawaii's "Grammy") including Male Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, and Rock Album of the Year, and in 2016, along with John Cruz and Brother Noland: Best EPK for his Rough Riders "We Ride" CD.

Keller Williams

Describing his music as electro-hippie acoustic downtempo; singer, songwriter, guitarist, and one-man jam band, Keller Williams defies all standards. He seamlessly crosses genre boundaries encompassing rock, jazz, funk, and bluegrass, keeping audiences on their feet. Performing solo on-stage using a looping unit, he creates his backing loops in the moment, building and improvising throughout the show with his custom-made ten-string guitar making a truly unique show.

Livingston Taylor

>From top-40 hits "I Will Be in Love with You" and "I'll Come Running," to "I Can Dream of You" and "Boatman," both recorded by his brother James, Livingston's creative output has continued unabated. His musical knowledge has inspired a varied repertoire, and he is equally at home with a range of musical genres-folk, pop, gospel, jazz-and from upbeat storytelling to touching ballads.

Willie K
Date: June 20

As part of a family band-he was the second of nine boys and four girls-Willie learned how to play every instrument that might be needed in the show, from guitar and bass to the ukulele, quickly becoming a virtuoso on each. And he learned how to make music in virtually any genre that might please an audience. His albums released over the past two decades are devoted to everything from pure traditional Hawaiian music to Jazzy/Blues tunes.

Capleton & The Prophecy Band

At a young age, Capleton was dubbed for his talent for logical argument and being verbally gifted after a prominent local lawyer. Capleton's love for music started young in Jamaica's St. Mary Parish. Starting his career performing at severAl Small sound systems before catching on with Stewart Brown's African Star, a combination sound system and label with connections in both Jamaica and Toronto. After a string of dancehall hits, he was signed by Russell Simmons onto Def Jam Recordings. With his deep lyrics, burning rhythm, and thoughtfulness, Capleton spearheaded dancehall's return of to reggae tradition, using Rastafarian spiritual themes and classic reggae roots as a music foundation.

Manhattan Transfer

The Manhattan Transfer has remained an important part of musical history for over forty years. The legendary quartet has won 10 Grammy Awards of 20 nominations, has been inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and continues to wow audiences with live performances throughout the country and the world. The Manhattan Transfer is comprised of Cheryl Bentyne, Alan Paul, Janis Siegel and Trist Curless, who recently stepped into the shoes of the group's founder, Tim Hauser, after his recent passing. With worldwide record sales in the millions, the extraordinary group topped the charts consistently for decades with their melodic and jazz infused vocals that bring audiences back year after year and that span generations.
