Stew & Heidi: Songs From Passing Strange ft. Jon Spurney
October 4 at 7:00pm & 9:30pm - $30
Join Stew, Heidi Rodewald and Jon Spurney for the grand re-opening of Joe's Pub as they take a journey back in time to re-visit the songs of Passing Strange, the theater production that went on to become both a Spike Lee-directed movie and Tony Award winner for "Best Book of a Musical." This intimate, acoustic set will explore songs from this hit show as well as songs that were cut from the show and songs never before heard on a New York stage.
With a gift for hook-filled melodies, taut poetic narratives, incisive song portraits and a sardonic sense of humor, the brilliant Stew and Heidi Rodewald are among New York's preeminent singer-songwriters. The New York Times raves "A witty wordsmith, composer and performer, Stew can also play a mean guitar, and when necessary, he strides the stage like an evangelical preacher, or a preening rocker, to whip the audience into a froth."

An event dedicated to providing performance opportunities to new and innovative comics, writers, musicians, and performers, Find The Funny is a monthly show that began downtown and has moved from venue to venue as it expanded and matured. Join the singer and shapeshifter as he returns home from a run in Amsterdam to introduce brand new songs and fiercely eccentric characters to NYC in this special midnight solo show.
Joseph Keckler is a singer, actor, and conceptual artist whose shows have been seen at SXSW Music, The New Museum, NP Contemporary Art Center, La MaMa ETC, NYU Performance Studies, PS122, Amsterdam's Bellevue Theatre, Dublin's International Bar, and many other venues. He is a MacDowell and Yaddo Fellow and has appeared in many traditional and experimental plays, operas, and performance pieces.

He has performed his work and/or others at The Sydney Opera House, The San Francisco MOMA and Opera House, New York's Public Theater, Stockholm's Sodra Teatern, The Spoleto Festival, The Bumbershoot Festival, The Time Based Arts Festival, Dublin's Project Arts Center, London's Soho Theater, with The National Theater of Scotland, and literally hundreds of other theaters, museums, music halls, cabarets, and festivals around the globe.

Auditioning to play a terrorist in a major Hollywood movie may be stand-up comedian Aladdin's big break. As he prepares for his audition, he finds himself thinking back on his deceased father, who left Bangladesh for a better life in New York, and his parents' futile attempts to raise him Muslim in Spanish Harlem. Accompanied by the tabla, Aladdin takes us a hilarious and moving journey about art, immigration, family, the Yankees and the nature of the American dream.
An inaugural member of the Public Theater's Emerging Writers Group, Aladdin developed his solo show Indio at the Public, including via its the New Work Now! reading series, and at New York Theater Workshop, Cape Cod Theater Project, The Lark Play Development Center, and Shakespeare in Paradise in the Bahamas.

OUR HIT PARADE is a live top-ten countdown show created by Tony nominee and Obie winner Kenny Mellman (Kiki & Herb), carnal chanteuse Bridget Everett (At Least It's Pink at Ars Nova), pop song opera impresario Neal Medlyn (Neal Medlyn's Unpronounceable Symbol at P.S. 122), producer and MTV cameraman Brendan Kennedy, and writers Ada Calhoun and Peter Schjeldahl. The show is inspired by the musical sketch series Your Hit Parade that ran on radio and then television from 1935 to 1959. On that show, cast members performed the week's most popular songs as comically literal skits. In this show, the hosts and special guest stars from the local performance scene present their renditions of current popular hits live on stage!

Recently described as "A bar of gold in the new depression" by Hilton Als in the New Yorker, singer, songwriter and Tony-nominated performance artist Justin Vivian Bond is an Obie, Bessie and Ethyl Eichelberger Award winner and was named one of the top 40 favorite New Yorkers by Time Out New York and was listed by Time Out London as one of England's 50 Funniest People. He regularly Emcees the performance series Weimar New York which has played in such varied locations as the SFMOMA, The Speigeltent, and Joe's Pub at the Public Theater in New York.

Morgan Karr
November 11 at 11:11pm - $15
Morgan Karr is an actor, singer, songwriter, artist and entertainer. His music sits at an intersection of genres including pop, soul, rock and country which many affectionately characterize as "too theater to be pop, and too pop to be theater."
Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, Morgan has quickly made his mark on the entertainment scene in New York City. In 2009, he joined the cast of the groundbreaking 8-time Tony Award-winning pop musical "Spring Awakening" on Broadway. In 2010, he won first place at the legendary "Amateur Night At The Apollo" in Harlem. Soon after, he began performing his original music to sold out audiences in New York and LA including infamous music venues like Joe's Pub, The Bitter End and Rockwood Music Hall.

Howling Hilda featuring Mary Testa

Mary Testa is "Howling Hilda" in this new solo musical, set in 1957, on the eve of the Brooklyn Dodgers' last season in New York. It tells the story of Hilda Chester, the team's greatest and most colorful fan. Thwarted in her dream to play baseball, she spent a lifetime cheering and became an institution at Ebbets Field, notorious for her clanging cowbells, frying pan and iron ladle.
