Joanne Tatham Set for String of Shows at Cafe Carlyle, 10/3-11

The renowned Café Carlyle at the Carlyle Hotel presents the L.A.-based jazz seductress Joanne Tatham for an exclusive four-show engagement from October 3 to 11. "Soundtrack New York," Tatham's fast-paced guided tour of songs from films shot on the streets of New York, performs "Soundtrack New York" on two consecutive Thursdays & Fridays, October 3 & 4, and 10 & 11, all at 10:45pm.

Tatham's quartet is led by Billy Stritch (October 3 & 4), and Tedd Firth (October 10 & 11) on piano, with Steve Doyle on bass, Sean Harkness on guitar, and Peter Grant on drums. Clifford Bell produces.

"Soundtrack New York" features a veritable skyline of songs from such films as "West Side Story," "Tootsie," "Rosemary's Baby," "Breakfast at Tiffany's" "Funny Girl," "Midnight Cowboy," and "New York, New York." No less than the Gershwins, Kander & Ebb, Marilyn and Alan Bergman, Bacharach & David, Mancini, Bernstein, Vernon Duke and Duke Ellington built this tuneful cityscape. Among the arrangers are Tamir Hendelman (Barbra Streisand), Brad Ellis (Glee), and Eli Brueggemann (Saturday Night Live).

The lithesome Tatham -- a freeflowing cocktail of Hollywood glamour mixed with the salty observations of a born New Jerseyite -- will be featured as part of the Carlyle's newly renamed Eastside Nightcaps. The series introduces performers whose bold talent, and often adventurous approach to the art form have marked them as some of the most promising and talked-about artists in cabaret.

Earlier this month Tatham was called "a terrrific find, exuding style and poise" by Woman Around Town, when she was featured in the Mabel Mercer Foundation's one-night tribute to The Blue Angel nightclub at Urban Stages. A transplanted New Yorker and New Jersey native, Tatham is currently based in L.A. where she performs regularly at Catalina's Jazz Club and The Gardenia. Her husband is the distinguished television writer and producer Chuck Tatham (Arrested Development, How I Met Your Mother).

Her West Coast appearances also included The Baked Potato, Vibrato, and San Francisco's Plush Room. A regular guest artist with the Desert Cities Jazz Band, Tatham has been featured at two Mabel Mercer Cabaret Conventions, and her recent New York appearances include Feinstein's and The Metropolitan Room where she introduced "Soundtrack New York" in the spring for two shows.

Launched this past spring, Eastside Nightcaps has already featured an eclectic mix of singers and musicians, including Jo Thompson, William Blake, Bria Skonberg, Caroline Jones and Stacy Sullivan.
