MTV today announced that Jimmy Fallon is set to present his longtime friend and History of Rap cohort, Justin Timberlake, with the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award live during the 2013 "MTV Video Music Awards" on Sunday, August 25, at 9pm ET/PT.

Timberlake has been the architect behind some of the most innovative and popular music videos of the last two decades including the emotionally drenched "Cry Me a River," futuristic dance party, "Rock Your Body," the dark and sultry, "SexyBack," the exquisite black and white rat pack throwback "Suit & Tie," as well as the hauntingly beautiful "Mirrors." In honor of his artistry and innovation, Justin Timberlake will be presented the coveted "Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award" joining a prestigious list of past recipients including Michael Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, R.E.M., Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Britney Spears.

As a solo artist and as a member of *NSYNC, Timberlake has collectively won an astounding 14 VMAs, including "Male Artist of the Year" and "Quadruple Threat of the Year" in 2007 and "Best Pop Video" for "Cry Me a River" in 2003, which puts him second only to Madonna in total wins.

In addition to receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, Justin Timberlake is also set to deliver a not-to-miss Epic performance during the show. He returns to the VMAs after a hugely successful year that saw his album, The 20/20 Experience debut at the top of the charts around the world. The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2 is set to be released on September 30. Through the years, Justin has thrilled fans with countless memorable performances including 2007's medley of "Lovestoned" and "Give it to Me" with Timbaland and Nelly Furtado, 2006's medley of "My Love" and "SexyBack" and 2002's "Like I Love You."

Timberlake, along with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, leads this year's VMA pack with six nominations each. Timberlake's nominations include "Video of the Year," "Best Male Video," "Best Pop Video" and "Best Editing" for "Mirrors," while his "Suit & Tie" featuring JAY Z, scored nods for "Best Collaboration," and "Best Direction".
