Entertainment Events Inc.  and Robert Dragotta will present the world premiere of Jewsical – The Chosen Musical at the Studio at Theater Row (410 West 42nd Street) in concert for one performance only Friday, January 13th (at 7 pm).

Jewsical, The Chosen Musical is from the creators of the smash hit musical Ruthless!, Joal Paley (book, lyrics and direction) and Marvin Laird (music).   A.C. Ciulla (Footloose, Lone Star Love) will choreograph the show, which features Toni Carington, April Henry, David Ruffin, Craig Sculli, and Adam Shapiro.

"He wants to be in show business.  They want a Jew.  His name is Christian Von Trapp.  Oy!  That's the premise of this hilarious new revue – iscle written by the delightfully irreverent minds of Paley and Laird.  With a song list that includes "Yinglish 101," "I'm Farblondget" and "Farplotzed," "Borscht Belt Betty," and "Yenta from Tellabenda" to name just a few, this spontaneous, light-hearted revue celebrates the rhythms, culture and hilarity of the chosen people, who like the rest of us in the world want to be in the 'show business,'" according to press notes.

Paley is the author and lyricist of Ruthless! The Musical (with music by Marvin Laird), which won the 1993 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical, and for which Paley won the Drama Desk Award as Best Lyricist. He has directed productions in New York (Outer Critic's Circle and Drama Desk nominee for Best Director), Florida (Carbonelle Award-winner for Best Direction and Best Musical), and the record-breaking Concert Production starring Bernadette Peters in Los Angeles. This year, Samuel French has published Ruthless! the Director's Cut to celebrate its ten-year anniversary.  He appeared on Broadway, in the national tour and on television with Shirley MacLaine in Where Do We Go From Here? as a member of the infamous Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, among other credits. As both writer and director for The New York Theatre Guild's Theatre At Sea Series, Paley has worked with Eileen Brennan, George Hearn, Dana Ivey, Carol Kane, Richard Kiley, Patricia Neal, Juliet Prowse and Gena Rowlands. He directed the national tour of the all-female version of The Odd Couple starring Barbara Eden, Georgette Engel, and Larry Thomas (the unforgettable Soup Nazi on "Seinfeld") and Pageant at The Ridgefield Theater Barn in Connecticut, among other credits.

Laird has written, arranged, and conducted on Broadway since the 60's.  Along the way he has worked with such notables as Noel Coward and Beatrice Lillie (High Spirits), Robert Preston (Ben Franklin in Paris), Julie Harris and Charles Nelson Reilly (Skyscraper), Mary Tyler Moore and Richard Chamberlain (Breakfast at Tiffany's), and, most recently, Bernadette Peters (in both the Tony and Grammy Award-winning productions of Annie Get Your Gun, and Gypsy).  He has composed scores for the television shows, "Dynasty," "The Love Boat," and "Quincy," and the dance music for the film version of Hello, Dolly, among other credits.

Tickets are on sale now at the box office (212-279-4200).
