Author Jennifer Hashmi encourages readers to minimize their ecological footprints in her new fiction "Merriol and the Lord Hycarbox" (published by AuthorHouse).

Hashmi's motivation to write happened when she realized the health of the environment and the mental health of its citizens were closely related.

With a fictional character named Lord Hycarbox - a being comprised of Earth's three essential elements, hydrogen, carbon and oxygen - Hashmi illustrates the Earth's endangered state.

Lord Hycarbox represents the natural elements of Earth and works throughout the story to rectify the ecological problems caused by the planet's inhabitants.

Merriol, a young boy, becomes Lord Hycarbox's messenger to the people of Earth.

"I think people realize that there is much which needs to be done to restore the balance of the natural forces of the world," Hashmi says. "This book suggests that each person has a contribution to make toward Earth's healing, and that we are each responsible for any imbalance."
