Jay Michaels, a director/producer in the arts and entertainment industry for more than 30 years, begins a 10-week intensive combining acting technique with tricks of the trade on how to market yourself as an actor. The acting class will begin in January 2014 at the M Center for Arts & Wellness.

Topics will include:

- Monologue Choice

- Stage Presence

- Audition Etiquette

- Headshots

- Resumes

- Networking

- Additional Training

- When to say NO

Mr. Michaels is a former theater professor from Kingsborough College in Brooklyn as well as a guest artist and lecturer at venues including Fordham University, Lehman College, Yeshiva University, and Columbus High School.

He directed a series of widely popular Shakespeare productions off-Broadway as well as the premieres of several new plays and three new musicals.

He served on the production teams on Broadway: Guys & Dolls, Damn Yankees, The Vagina Monologues, Les Miserables, Edwin Drood, and Oliver.

His first film, Slings & Arrows, received international distribution. His second film, Veronica's Birthday, premieres Spring 2014. He is also in pre-production for Earthmen, filming this summer.
