Dorothy's Piano Bar and Cabaret is soon to be Seattle's newest nightclub. Located on Capitol Hill, Dorothy's offers both an old-fashioned piano bar where patrons can sing around the piano and a cabaret lounge. Set to open in Summer 2017, Dorothy's now offers a monthly preview of some of the performers who will grace our stage.

A native to the Northwest, Jenny Shotwell grew up in Olympia, WA where she started participating in Community Theater at a young age as well as being heavily involved in music and theater in school. Jenny went on Pacific Lutheran University where she received her Bachelor's of Music in Vocal Performance in 2004. While at PLU she primarily studied opera while singing in the well-known Choir of the West as well as the successful and award winning Jazz Choir.

After college, Jenny began to perform regularly throughout the greater Puget Sound in both opera and musical theater. She has garnered praise for her vocal versatility ranging from opera, musical theater, jazz and rock and roll. She has performed with a variety of northwest companies including The 5th Avenue Theater, Harlequin Productions, Tacoma Opera, Bellevue Opera, The Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society and Seattle Musical Theater, among others.

In her leading role debut with Tacoma Opera in 2009 as Marie in La Fille Du Regiment, Jenny was praised for her "stunning vocal pyrotechnics" and her "bright, clear coloratura soaring effortlessly to high F's". Less than three months prior she appeared in Harlequin's original production of Sixties Chicks; a four woman show that paid homage to the music of the sixties. For her performance she was nominated for two of Harlequin's annuAl Golden Mask Awards that included Best Female Performance and People's Choice Award in which one nomination included this review, "Most beautiful voice I have ever heard on the Harlequin stage. Period."

She continues to perform regularly with the leading theater's in the northwest - most notably the 5th Avenue Theater where she is featured frequently as a guest artist for special events and outreach programs. She also has performed supporting roles for them, most recently Isabel in The Pirates of Penzance and as Kate Mullins in the acclaimed Titanic: In Concert, featuring a cast of Seattle and Broadway veterans. In the spring of 2014 Jenny will be part of the cast of the new musical, A Room with a View.

A regular to the cabaret scene Jenny also sings frequently with The Inverse Opera and Opera on Tap. Most recently Jenny was a guest vocalist with a select group of Broadway and Seattle stars for Leavenworth's Icicle Creek Broadway Soiree.

Jenny is also featured on the original cast album of A Christmas Story: The Musical! which made it's world premiere at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theater in 2010. Coming in Spring of 2014 Jenny will make her operatic debut at the 5th Avenue Theater in the new musical A Room With A View as The Ragazza.
