JULESWORKS FOLLIES Set for Jean Cocteau Cinema, 12/30

Julesworks presents edition twenty-one of Santa Fe's Monthly Variety Show, The Julesworks Follies, on Monday, December 30th at 6 pm. We are excited to stage our show once again at the newly reopened Jean Cocteau Cinema at 418 Montezuma. We had a good turnout for our first show there, in spite of being well snowed in.

Our Very Special Guest from last month, Joe West, will be reprising his debut last month with a few of his famed songs and also joining in as a new character in the serialized play by Julesworks "Whatever You Do". Joe is one of Santa Fe's most cherished musicians and performers. We are pleased that while he seems to be on a sabbatical from playing many of his other gigs, he has chosen to return to the Julesworks Follies.

For this holiday time edition, Tone Forrest returns with a chorus of carolers for some holiday time cheer. He will recite the gospel passage from The Messiah as intro to Angels We Have Heard and do 4 or 5 more traditional carols immediately after, with a mini choir of about 10 Santa Feans. He did something similar this time last year, so it is becoming a tradition. Tone has performed and hosted in the past.

Julesworks presents the 21st chapter of their serial "Whatever You Do", starring Jules, Tom Sibley, Brittani Marie Chapman (schedule permitting, we hope), and the voice of Stephen Rommel, chronicling the non-linear adventures of a band of heroic non-heroes and introducing Joe West, as a new character...to find out who, and what his inventive name will be, you must attend.

Our other new performer from last month also returns, Jimi Davis who will share an uplifting song or two. Jimi is new to town and has played music around the globe. We are pleased to be his first live venue. It seems he will become an integral part of our monthly endeavours.

Our resident musician Greg Turner continues to play selections of his world famous catchy bizarre fun music. Turner recently shot a music video with another sometime performer of the Follies, Steve Terrell. Their video will show in December also at the Jean Cocteau.

Trent Zelazny continues to get acclaim world-wide with his fiction. He reads almost monthly with the Follies and has had plays presented, one of which is being staged in Australia. His books continue to sell well world wide and at the Jean Cocteau where on a good day his signed books out sell GEORGE RR MARTIN and Neil Gaiman.

Patrick Chavez continues performing Zoe's Stories. A vibrant storyteller, Patrick's fun nature continues to get him notice. Patrick represents the core ethos of the Follies in that twenty months ago he shared stories he had hand written for his daughter only, but he now performs monthly rehearsed new lively tales.

Al Staggs returns his unique comic impersonations. Al does his shockingly accurate versions of cherished comedians. He travels doing lectures and impersonations including Lincoln and works as a funeral home director. As a Harvard grad and minister amongst other diversities on his resume, he brings a unique diversity to the show.

Also returning is belly dancer Chandler Rhinehart, who has studied around the world and dances around town and travels. Her style infuses a variety of cultures. She has been off for a well so we welcome her return.

The Julesworks Rip Off Team will venture into new territory with a sketch by the great Ricky Gervaise and Stephen Merchant from their series Life's Too Short with Warick Davis. Our players are Tom Sibley as Warwick, Stephen Rommel as Merchant, Jules as Liam Neeson, who is the cameo guest in this snippet and introducing Roberto Codato as Gervaise.

The Full-On Monty Python Copyright Infringement Experience aka The Monty Python Recreation Brigade Squad Posse aka Crunchy, Raw, Un-Boned, Real, Dead Frog Parrot Droppings recreates originAl Monty Python material including sketches, snippets of their films and the Pepperpots. They will do their rendition of the "Army Protection Racket" with Tom Sibley, Stephen Rommel, Jules, Leticia Cortez and Robert Codato.

Tom Sibley presents snippets of his unique one-man comedy and as a member of the Jworks Rip-Off Squads and their Serialized Play.

Experimentalist Andrew Kirkpatrick returns with a new piece combining his talents as a singer (Karaoke Master), electronic musician and more. Andy has hosted many times as well. He will assume co-hosting abilities this show along with Jules, making use of musicians Turner and Jimi Davis.

Authors will present short snippets of their work including: Leticia Cortez and Jodi Drinkwater. Author Henry Valdez, who has been away for a while, will return with a new poem or two as will writer Corinne Wesley.

The Open Slot Slot will carry on to possibly allow a quick piece by interested audience members.

Another new component to be launched is a serialized reading of snippets of the BBC Radio Play Versions of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" including more performers new to the Follies Vanessa Rios and Quinn Mander.

The Julesworks Follies commemorates our 21st entry as Santa Fe's only Monthly Variety Show. While many performers present each month, some come and go, and each month we hope to have at least one new performer.

Tickets will be $7 to support Julesworks and the newly re-opened Jean Cocteau and your community artists. We will stage the Julesworks Raffle of goodies and prizes donated from restaurants, merchants and artists across Santa Fe to support Julesworks' effort to stage this community monthly variety show.
