Dorothy Fields wanted to be a songwriter, but unless you were a singer, a woman had little chance of a career in music. The woman who wrote "I'm in the Mood for Love," "The Way You Look Tonight," and dozens of other great American Standards forged a career for herself as a librettist and lyricist that lasted 50 years, during which she wrote nearly 500 songs. Come hear her great songs and experience her fascinating life as told by an award-winning storyteller.

Pippa White turned to solo performing in 1994. Previously she had an extensive career in theatre and television on the West Coast, including five years hosting a daily morning television show at ABC in San Francisco. She calls her One's Company Productions "pArt Theatre, part storytelling, part history." Audiences call them unique, captivating, and touching. To date she has crisscrossed the country many times touring to thirty states, including California, New York, Connecticut, Colorado, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Washington and Alaska. She has performed at universities and colleges, performing arts centers, museums, libraries, and festivals. Conferences often use her unusual performance pieces and feature her as a keynote speaker. Pippa has been featured at the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines in their Applause Program many times. Other venues and organizations include the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, the University of Nebraska, Iowa State Center, the Connecticut Hospital Association, SUNY Orange, San Diego State University School of Nursing, Metropolitan State University-St. Paul, Miami Children's Hospital, the Association for Career and Technical Education, Kansas City Young Audiences, and several theatres and storytelling festivals. The Director of Special Projects at the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs called Pippa "the highest quality artist," and the Kansas Storytelling Festival said her performance was "one of the high points in our festival history." An audience member recently captured the gist of Pippa's unique presentations when he said, "her performances are entertainment wrapped in history intertwined with inspiration." Pippa has a BA in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In addition to performing, she offers workshops and residencies, and has been a teaching artist with the Nebraska Arts Council for nineteen years. She is actively involved in aesthetic education through the Arts Are Basic Program. She has received several awards in recognition of her work, including two Individual Artist Fellowship awards from the Nebraska Arts Council. www.pippawhite1co.com

Vincent T. Learned is staff accompanist for UNL's Dance Program in the School of Music. Vince received his BFA from UNL in Musical Theatre. Currently, he accompanies Ballet and Modern Dance classes, and teaches Music for Dance. Vince has also taught Music Theatre, and has coached, composed and accompanied extensively for theatre and opera at UNL. For the past twenty (plus) years, Vince has been one of Lincoln's leading theatre professionals: developing, directing and performing in most local venues. He received the 2003 Mayor's Arts Award for excellence in theatre (Sam Davidson Award). Vince was a founding member of Lincoln's Haymarket Theatre. He was involved in maiden productions at The Swan (Rosencranz and Guildenstern are Dead), and directed School House Rocks to open the Star City Dinner Theatre. He was in Billy Bishop Goes to War, which was the first production mounted in the Johnny Carson theatre. Vince directed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The Wizard of Oz for Pinewood Bowl, and has composed and directed music for the Angels Company and the Nebraska Repertory Theatre. He is a master teacher for Broadway Showcase (a partnership between the Lied Center for Performing Arts and the Lincoln Community Playhouse), and has performed with the Hastings Symphony, and Third Chair Chamber Players. He has also composed music for Sense 8 (for Bill T. Jones Dancers in New York), and has performed in theatres from Okoboji to Tokyo. Vince is the founder of the Learned Project.
