UPDATED: Tony Roberts Takes Ill During ROYAL FAMILY Matinee; Understudy to Step In Tonight

BroadwayWorld.com has just received the sad word that Tony Roberts 'took ill' on stage during today's matinee of The Royal Family, resulting in the curtain coming down and the cancellation of the rest of the performance. An ambulance was called and Roberts has brought to the hospital, with no further word on his condition at this time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Roberts, his family and to the production.

BWW TV: Standing Ovations V Featured Performer Day 2: Laura Bell Bundy

Laura Ashley Bell Bundy most recently starred in Legally Blonde: The Musical on Broadway as "Elle Woods" and stepped into the tour for multiple stops as well. Prior to that she played Sherrie Christian in the musical "Rock of Ages". However, Miss Bundy is no stranger to the stage, having starred in both Hairspray (Tony Award-winning Musical) and Wicked. In Hairspray, she originated the role of Amber Von Tussle, and in Wicked, she was a standby for the role of Glinda The Good Witch.

A new version of HAIR's iconic dance-party finale, created to motivate New Yorkers to join in the National Equality March, was presented at the matinee performance on Wednesday, October 7th at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre - 302 West 45th Street. The producers of the Tony Award-winning revival of HAIR previously announced that, in an unprecedented move, they are canceling the show's Sunday, October 11th performance so that the entire cast can join the National Equality March in Washington, D.C. Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical sequel to his mega hit musical, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, will take a giant leap forward tomorrow morning in London as "Love Never Dies" reveals itself to a very hungry media. NEXT TO NORMAL Announces New Student Rush Policy

Beginning Monday, October 12, the Broadway musical Next to Normal will replace its current rush policy with a new ticket lottery. Beginning 90 minutes before each performance, patrons are invited to enter a lottery drawing to purchase a limited number of $25.00 tickets to that day's performance. Names will be drawn at random. There is a limit of two tickets per person and winners must be present with valid identification at the time of the drawing. (more...)
