Horse Trade Theater Group to Host 2nd Annual CABARET ALL-STARS SHOWDOWN, 2/9

The Cabaret Showdown is a monthly game show that offers a unique mixture of live karaoke and Jeopardy. Contestants are asked to sing selections from various musical categories listed on the Official Game Board with no knowledge of what the song will be until right before they sing. To level the playing field all songs are popular standards, each contestant is given a copy of the sheet music and accompanied by a live pianist. The winner receives a free booking at UNDER St. Marks for their very own showcase. Whether you are a contestant or in the audience you are guaranteed to have a blast!

Sunday, February 9th will feature the Winner Showcase at 5:30pm with last month's winner of the "Rock 'n Roll " showdown, Joan Estep. At 7pm join us for Cabaret Showdown: Croon This! followed by the 2nd Annual All-Stars Showdown at 9:30pm.

7pm - Cabaret Showdown: Croon This! $12
Break out the American Songbook, get in touch with your inner Tony Bennett or Ella Fitzgerald, and come pour some honey on us. But there's a catch: Half of the Game Board will be standards from 1920-1950, the rest will be songs of today that we're asking contestants to croon. With your Host Mark McDaniels, Accompanist Assaf Gleizner, Resident Judge Donald Garverick, and Guest Judges Brandon Cutrell (Host, Stonewall Sensation) and Tom Wojtunik (Artistic Director, Astoria Performing Arts Center).

Nine of the 2013 Cabaret Showdown winners will go head to head until we crown the 2013 All-Star Champion! Featuring performances by Lauren Hennessy (Winner, February 2013), Marc Winski (Winner, April 2013), Sariah (Winner, May 2013), Marissa Del Campo (Winner, June 2013), Alan Starzinski (Winner, July 2013), Malachi Nimmons, Jr. (Winner, August 2013), Kimberly Hawkey (Winner, September 2013), Madge Dietrich (Winner, November 2013), and Jonathan Estabrooks (Winner, December 2013) with your Host Mark McDaniels, Accompanist Assaf Gleizner, Resident JudgeDonald Garverick, and special Guest Judge Michael A. Alden (Producer, Pippin).

Horse Trade Theater Group is a self-sustaining theater development group; with a focus on new work that has produced a massive quantity of stimulating downtown theater.
