High School Musical 2, Efron, Hudgens Win Teen Choice Awards

The cast and creatives of Disney's High School Musical 2 received a special award at the 2007 Teen Choice Awards, which aired Sunday August 26 at 8PM ET on FOX.

Zac Efron, Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Olesya Rulin and Kaycee Stroh were on-hand to accept the award for the movie's historical, record-breaking debut. High School Musical 2, the Disney Channel's made-for-TV sequel, received over 17-million TV viewers when it aired Friday, August 17.

Hilary Duff and Nick Cannon hosted the ninth annual event, which featured performances by Fergie, Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne. Plus celebrity appearances by Nikki Blonsky (Hairspray), Jessica Alba, Ashlee Simpson (West End Chicago), Dane Cook, Lauren Conrad, Megan Fox, Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera), Miley Cyrus, Anna Paquin, Jared Padalecki, Taylor Kitsch and Tony Award-winner Dan Fogler (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) of the up-coming comedy film Balls of Fury.

Other Teen Choice 2007 Award winners included America Ferrera of "Ugly Betty" for TV Breakout Actress; Vanessa Anne Hudgens of High School Musical 2 for Movie Breakout Female Actress; and Zac Efron of High School Musical 2 and Hairspray for Choice Hottie.
