Helane Blumfield's New Show to Be Directed By Lennie Watts

Singer, Helane Blumfield, comes to the Laurie Beechman Theatre in April and May with a new solo show, "Tight Pants And Tears Of Joy, My love affair with Tom Jones and Neil Diamond!" The dates are April 28th at 7pm, May 5th at 2pm and May 16th at 7pm.

"Tight Pants And Tears Of Joy, My love affair with Tom Jones and Neil Diamond!" Is a nostalgic look at the lives and careers of 2 Music Legends, and exposes Ms. Blumfield for the Super Fan that she is! From Diamond's "Brooklyn Roads" and "Play Me" to Jones' "Its Not Unusual" and "Sex-Bomb", Helane and her band serve up an unforgettable evening of hits as well as lesser known gems.

Ms. Blumfield returned to performing five years ago after 25 years in the advertising and retail industry. She has been "ecstatically happy" and content throughout an extensive career as Macy's SVP Creative Director, which she describes as one of her two creative loves, singing being the other. "l love performing says Ms. Blumfield "Communicating with the audience is powerful and revealing." Helane's last one-woman show 'Call Me H!' was in the spring of 2016 at Don't Tell Mama in NYC. "'Call me H!' was a show about blending borders between genders and celebrating the men who inspire me," says Ms. Blumfield. Her repertoire was a mix of pop, rock and theatrical material.

Jerry Herman described Musical Director, Bobby Peaco, as "the best show pianist I have ever heard." He has won nine MAC Awards and three Bistro Awards. Among a long list of major artists, directors, producers and shows, he has collaborated with Thommie Walsh, the Late Julie Wilson, Donna McKechnie, Jackie Hoffman, Terri White, Jane Summerhays, the late producer, Blake Edwards, producer Rosie O'Donnell, and the shows Ain?t Misbehavin? and Chicago.

Lennie Watts is a 13 time MAC, 5 time Backstage Bistro, 3 time Nightlife, and a 2014 Broadway World Award Winner. He is the only person to receive awards as an outstanding vocalist, director, producer, and booking manager. He has been active in the New York cabaret scene for over 25 years.
