The Heights Players is pleased to announce its December 2015 production, Rumors, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Neil Simon. In what was Simon's first attempt at farce, the show is a brilliant mix of physical comedy, sight gags and the playwright's priceless one-liners. Poking fun at the country club set with a number of quirky neurotic characters, Rumorsis on the John Bourne Theater's stage December 4-20.

It's a funny thing about rumors. They tend to take on a life of their own - becoming something so embellished that it's hard to recognize the original seed of truth from which they sprang. During an ordinary celebration of Charlie and Myra Brock's 10th wedding anniversary, rumors turn the evening into anything but ordinary. Four well-to-do couples are on the guest list. When the first couple arrives, they discover Charlie has shot himself in the head and his wife and the kitchen help are missing. Other guests arrive at varying intervals and, as with true farce, soon every moment is fraught with peril of some sort.

Simon, a masterful playwright, transforms mundane events, such as telephone calls, into moments of great hilarity. Suddenly, these eight successful professionals become eight scrambling lunatics running for cover and turning on each other at a moment's notice. Complete with doors opening and closing, guests entering and exiting, rapid-fire one-liners, it seems finding the simple truth becomes the greatest hurdle of all. It's a side-splitting comedy that will leave audiences gasping for breath!

Join the Heights Players and kick off the holiday season with an evening of unending laughter. Rumors performs on December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 8 p.m. and December 6, 13 and 20 at 2 p.m. at The John Bourne Theatre at the Heights Players, 26 Willow Place between Joralemon and State Streets.
