"Time Stands Still," the Tony nominated drama by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies about the impact of covering the Iraq war on a driven photojournalist, will be the second production of the Hampton Theatre Company's 30th anniversary season, opening on January 17 (Note: Opening date change) at the Quogue Community Hall.

After barely surviving a bomb blast in Iraq, photojournalist Sarah Goodwin finds herself caught in a tug of war between her career and the relative tranquility of domestic life with her partner, freelance journalist James Dodd. As they try to work out a way forward, Sarah is also affected in ways she did not expect by the blossoming romance and marriage of her editor, Richard Erlich, with his much younger and completely uncomplicated girlfriend, Mandy.

The January 2010 Broadway production directed by Daniel Sullivan and starring Laura Linney was nominated for two Tony Awards, for Best Play and Best Performance by a Leading Actress for Ms. Linney.

"Time Stands Still" marks the Hampton Theatre Company debut for all four members of the cast, all of whom trail lengthy lists of New York City and regional theater credits.

Playing the role of Sarah Goodwin will be Sandy York; James Dodd will be played by John Carlin. John L. Payne plays photo editor Richard Erlich and Kate Kenney will play the young event planner, Mandy.

Brooklyn native Donald Margulies first gained recognition for his play "Found a Peanut," produced by Joseph Papp in 1983 at the Public Theatre. His 1992 play "Sight Unseen" won an Obie for Best New American Play and he was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1997 for "Collected Stories." His play "Dinner with Friends" won the Pulitzer in 2000.

Other plays by Mr. Margulies, who teaches playwriting at the Yale School of Drama, include "The Loman Family Picnic"; "Pitching to the Star"; "Luna Park"; "What's Wrong With This Picture?"; "The Model Apartment"; "Shipwrecked! An Entertainment"; "The God of Vengeance"; "Brooklyn Boy" and, most recently, "The Country House," which closed in New York on November 23.

HTC Executive Director Sarah Hunnewell directs. Set design is by Sean Marbury; lighting design by Sebastian Paczynski; and costumes by Teresa Lebrun.

"Time Stands Still" runs at the Quogue Community Hall from January 8 through 25, with shows on Thursdays and Fridays at 7, Saturdays at 8 and Sundays at 2:30. The Hampton Theatre Company will now be offering special dinner and theater packages in collaboration with the Southampton, Westhampton Beach, Hampton Bays, Quogue and Riverhead libraries. Information about the dinner and theater packages is available on the company website, www.hamptontheatre.org, or through the libraries.
