HAPPY DAYS, EVERYTHING YOU TOUCH & More Set for Theatre @ Boston Court's 2014 Season

The Theatre @ Boston Court announces its 2014 Season. The season begins January 26 with Se Llama Cristina, by Octavio Solis, a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere. The spring production is the World Premiere of Everything You Touch, by Sheila Callaghan, a Co-Production with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. The summer brings a co-production with Circle X Theater Company on a West Coast PremiereStupid F*cking Bird, by Aaron Posner. The season closes in the fall with Samuel Beckett's Happy Days featuring Brooke Adams, directed by Andrei Belgrader. All productions will appear on the Main Stage at Boston Court Performing Arts Center, 70 North Mentor Avenue.

January 25 - February 23, 2014 - An NNPN Rolling World Premiere
Se Llama Cristina by Octavio Solis, directed by Robert Castro
A man and woman wake up in a strange apartment surrounded by drug paraphernalia and an empty crib. They must piece together who they are, and were, and where that baby might be, all while trying to create a new future for themselves. A gritty, poetic look at the uncertainty of life and our desperate need for belonging, Se Llama Cristina asks if it's possible to rise above your circumstances to make a better life.

April 12 - May 11, 2014 - A World Premiere Co-Production with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater
Everything You Touch by Sheila Callaghan, directed by Jessica Kubzansky
Victor is a ruthless fashion designer in the 1970s at the top of his game. Esme, his glamorous protégé and muse, is pushed aside when an ordinary Midwestern woman inspires Victor to make his artistry accessible to the masses. A generation later, a woman grappling with a healthy dose of self-loathing must wrestle her own family demons to find her way through the world of fashion that won't give a woman her size a second look. Skipping back and forth in time, Everything You Touch is a viciously funny look at the struggle to find an identity that's more than skin deep.

June 28 - July 27, 2014 - A West Coast Premiere Co-Production with Circle X Theatre Company
Stupid F*cking Bird by Aaron Posner, directed by Michael Michetti
In this irreverent remix of Chekhov's The Seagull, an aspiring young director rails against the art created by his mother's generation, a nubile young actress wrestles with an aging Hollywood star for the affections of a renowned novelist, and everyone discovers just how disappointing life, art, and growing up can be. Chekhov's characters still ruminate on love, revolution and the pursuit of happiness, but this time with a lot more snark as the subtext bubbles to the surface. With music, meta-theatricality, and mad humor, Posner beats The Seagull to a bloody f*cking pulp.

September 13 - October 12, 2014
Happy Days by Samuel Beckett, directed by Andrei Belgrader
Renowned director Andrei Belgrader re-examines this Samuel Beckett classic, newly relevant to a generation burdened by climate change and environmental doom. Brooke Adams plays Winnie, a woman buried up to her bosom in a mound of dirt with nothing to pass the time but the ragged contents of her bag, her nimble wit, and her husband Willie lurking somewhere behind her. This droll, existential allegory demonstrates the vitality of the human spirit in the face of a deteriorating world.

Each play previews for six performances prior to its opening date and runs for four weeks, Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. Season memberships are available now through www.BostonCourt.org or by calling 626-683-6883.
