Gregg Edelman and Penny Fuller to Join Kate Baldwin in Berkshire's A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC this Summer

Berkshire Theatre Group has announced additional casting for A Little Night Music. Four-time Tony Award nominee and Drama Desk Award winner Gregg Edelman will play the role of Fredrik Egerman and Emmy Award winner and two-time Tony Award nominee Penny Fuller will play the role of Madame Armfeldt for BTG's 2014 summer musical. Ethan Heard, who directed BTG's 2013 hit murder mystery The Cat and the Canary, will direct Stephen Sondheim's award-winning musical which also features Tony Award and Drama Desk nominee Kate Baldwin, internationally-acclaimed vocalist and actress Maureen O'Flynn, and Broadway and television actor Graham Rowat.

Edelman and Fuller join a stellar cast for Berkshire Theatre Group's 86th season, including: Two-time Tony Award winner James Naughton in the world premiere of Cedars; Broadway actor Bill Bowers and Tony Award nominee Tom Hewitt in Charles Ludlam's The Mystery of Irma Vep; David Adkins, Corinna May, Barbara Sims and Walton Wilson in Michael Frayn's Benefactors; and Yale School of Drama graduate students, Ariana Venturi, Christopher Geary, and Tom Pecinka in Nöel Coward's Design for Living.

Gregg Edelman (Fredrik Egerman) Last season's The Mystery of Edwin Drood marked the 15th Broadway production of Gregg Edelman?s career. Since his first Broadway appearance in the original Broadway production of Harold Prince?s Evita, Gregg has gone on to star in such productions as City of Angels, 1776, Into The Woods, Anything Goes, Falsettos, Wonderful Town, and Cabaret. He has earned four Tony Award nominations for his performances, as well as numerous other honors including the Drama Desk Award. Recent credits include the record-breaking world premiere production of A.R. Gurney?s Black Tie at Primary Stages, Sweeney in the critically acclaimed production of Sweeney Todd at the Drury Lane Theater in Chicago, and the award-winning George Street Theatre production of 12 Angry Men in which he portrayed Juror #8, a role made famous by Henry Fonda. Film credits include: Little Children, Spiderman 2, Crimes and Misdemeanors, City by The Sea, Green Card, Hollywood Ending, Liberal Arts, and the just completed, Jane Wants A Boyfriend and Market Trip. He was a regular on the CBS series Hack; has guest-starred on numerous television series such as 30 Rock, The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, and Law and Order: Criminal Intent; and no list of Gregg?s television work would be complete without mentioning the time he spent as the voice of the peanut M&M. His concert and recording work have given him the opportunity to travel all over the world, appearing with such orchestras as the Boston Pops, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Detroit Symphony, as well as the Philadelphia and Chicago Pops. His many appearances at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops have allowed him to help honor such friends as John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Charles Strouse. He has also grown to love performing solo concerts in such intimate rooms as Feinstein?s. These smaller venues give him a chance to perform great music in a subtler and more personal way. His 17 recordings of Broadway shows include the cast albums of City of Angels, Wonderful Town, 1776, and Into The Woods and studio recordings of On The Town, Cabaret, Anything Goes and Sweet Charity.

Penny Fuller (Madame Armfeldt) began her Broadway career starring in Barfeoot In The Park, three Shakespeare-in-the-Park productions, and the musicals Cabaret, Rex (Drama Desk nom.), and Applause (Tony nomination for "Eve Harrington"). Her television work garnered her six Emmy nominations and the Emmy Award for ABC's The Elephant Man. Recent Broadway: Horton Foote's Dividing The Estate, Neil Simon's The Dinner Party (Tony nom.). Lincoln Center: William Finn's A New Brain (Drama Desk nom.). Off-Broadway: Love, Loss, And What I Wore, Beautiful Child, Southern Comforts, Three Viewings (Drama Desk nom.), New England. Regional: "Amanda" The Glass Menagerie, "Arkadina" The Seagull, "Desiree" A Little Night Music, "Leona" Do I Hear A Waltz, "Claire" A Delicate Balance, An American Daughter. With the encouragement of cabaret director, Barry Kleinbort she has embarked on a new career as cabaret artist in New York clubs and theaters. Their latest collaboration is a solo musical play: Thirteen Things About Ed Carpolotti, (book, music and lyrics by Kleinbort) seen at 59E59Theaters and scheduled for Merrimack Repertory in Lowell in December 2014.

Stephen Sondheim's beloved and award-winning musical, A Little Night Music offers an amusing and farcical tale of unexpected liaisons, relentless desire, and ill-fated heartbreak in the life of acclaimed actress, Desiree Armfeldt. One eventful weekend, Desiree, her former beau and his wife, and Desiree's current lover and his wife all arrive at a Swedish country estate. Long-held passions are soon rekindled in this classic waltz of a musical directed by Ethan Heard who also directed BTG's 2013 hit murder mystery, The Cat and The Canary. Featuring one of Sondheim's most notable show tunes, "Send in the Clowns," A Little Night Music celebrates love and all the foolhardy particulars it entails.
