Ana is an investigation into the relationship between language and movement and the transformations that occur within dialogues. The piece focuses on Ms. Parra's experiences and observations of crossing the California-Mexico border every day for a week. During this time, she observed Mexican-American women who cross the border daily to go to school. The purpose of this type of field research was to document language and movement patterns in young Mexican-American women who constantly migrate between languages, cultures and geographical spaces. Photographs and sound recordings acquired from the field have been used to create the dialogue and choreography. The piece is performed by two women who occupy an open space while engaging each other in a dialogue of words, movement and sound.

"... two well-conceived mirrored forms with lyrical accents strictly defined by the coordinated action of the two dancers (who skillfully dominate the movement), at times working in a necessary symmetry while at other times in choreographic ensemble." - Roger Salas, El País
