Green Space is pleased to offer a diverse roster of new/ emerging artists in September.
Fertile Ground will present new work by various artists and Take Root will present an evening of work by Amy Cova Dance and TeatoLocal, Choreography by Joel Sherry.

"In a busy dance performance weekend, one in which you will miss at least two things you "have" to see, it is still worth the gamble to see what talent Valerie Green/Dance Entropy is nurturing with her Take Root series at Green Space." -Quinn Batson, OFFOFFOFF Dance Review

TAKE ROOT, now in its 6th season, aids in the continued development and performance of new dance work of various aesthetics by providing choreographers with the opportunity to be produced in a full-length or paired evening of work. This once a month series supports dance makers by providing our venue, Green Space, with full technical and marketing support.

September 12th & 13th, 2014 at 8:00pm
Admission: $15
Tickets are available at the door or online at www.GreenSpaceStudio.org.
Amy Cova Dance: Amy Cova's work "such trees as these" explores sustainability of body, of environment, and of creative process. Through a movement vocabulary that constantly punctuates the highly physical with a quiet gestural sense, the dancers shape a world of turmoil, confusion, hope, and happiness into a single theatrical experience. The darkly humorous and charming performers share the space with an original sound score composed by Alvin Hill.

TeatoLocal presents "venez m' aider (come to help me)" choreographed by Joel Sherry and performed by Cynthia Bueschel Svigals and Joel Sherry. "venez m' aider (come to help me)" presents a battle-torn landscape where two people discover each other and join together to await a rescue that never arrives. While they wait for the unknown, the signals they each send out are received by the other and translated into a message of support, assistance and compassion. In "venez m' aider" TeatoLocal uses character-driven dance and performance to examine the human need to help.
