This is where your adventure begins. Great Urban Race will be coming to NYC for the fifth year in a row on Saturday, August 4, 2012.  This year, Great Urban Race will take participants off the beaten path to new, exciting locations within their cities. Teamwork will prove essential in order to complete the race's various mental and physical challenges that will push participants to their limits and beyond their expectations. Amazing Race Season 13 winner Nick Spangler will kick off the event with exclusive scavenger hunting tips. Nick is currently performing in the Tony-Winning Book of Mormon.

Teams will work together to solve 12 unique clues at local businesses and landmarks, which could include scavenging for random items, deciphering puzzles or completing a physical challenge or game. First, Second, and Third place winners will receive a cash prize, but the top finishers have an additional prize up for grabs. The first 25 teams to complete the race will secure a spot in the National Championship race in Las Vegas for a chance at $10,000.

"Great Urban Race allows the local crowd to partake in a unique and exhilarating adventure," says Race Director Alyssa Breeden.  "People looking to get out on a Saturday afternoon need to discover all that Great Urban Race has to offer; it's an experience like none other!"

For the fourth year in a row, Great Urban Race is thrilled to continue its partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital®, the nation's top children's cancer hospital. TheSt. Jude Heroes program allows Great Urban Race participants to give back while they compete by signing up during registration and securing donations from family and friends. To support each Hero's cause, Great Urban Race will donate $10 to the hospital for each participant who registers. Throughout the partnership, Great Urban Race's St. Jude Heroes have raised over $300,000 in support of St. Jude and its fight against childhood cancer.

The cost of the race is $60 per person until August 3 and $70 per person on race day. The race is open to everyone; however, an adult must accompany participants under the age of 18. Registration begins at 11am at The West 79th Street Boat Basin Cafe. Race begins at noon.
