Great Performances, New York City's premier catering company, and its staff performance troupe, 90 Square Arts, are pleased to announce their 2014 production of Len Jenkin's Pilgrims of the Night.

As a way to encourage its team of creative professionals to marry their lives as caterers by day and performers by night, Great Performances debuted its first employee production, Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods, in 2012. What began as a modest presentation soon caught the eye of many industry influencers - including the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal - and quickly became an annual staff tradition.

Following the success of Into The Woods, Great Performances then presented its second annual staff play; a production of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's Little Shop of Horrors. Building on that momentum, Pilgrims of the Night will be the company's most ambitious production to date, and will be showcase this February, 2014.

Pilgrims of the Night tells the story of individuals who are trapped during a storm in a ferry terminal with no food, no electricity, and no cell signal. To pass the time, they share with each other salacious tales which involve everything from adultery to a biblical flood.

Great Performances' first staff play was funded by a Kickstarter campaign; the team set out to raise the $10,000 they needed to produce the show, and succeeded. Kickstarter became the fundraising tool that Great Performances, and now 90 Square Arts, relies upon to finance their annual production.

Proceeds generated from these shows benefit The Sylvia Center, the non-profit organization founded by Liz Neumark that is dedicated to inspiring children to eat well through hands-on experiences to that they may go on to lead healthy and productive lives. Its garden-to-table programs teach children to cook and eat well, both upstate at Katchkie Farm and in community centers throughout NYC.

90 Square Arts and Great Performances has their fundraising drive open now on Kickstarter, with the goal of raising $8,000 by January 4th, 2014 to make the production of Pilgrims of the Night possible. These funds cover the performance space, rehearsal space, costumes, light and sound, lighting designer, set, performance royalties, theatre insurance, general liability insurance, stage manager, and props necessary to produce a show in Manhattan.
