Variety reports that Paramount's 1942 movie musical HOLIDAY INN will premiere onstage next fall at the Goodspeed Opera House in Connecticut. The musical will be produced via Universal Stage Productions -- known for its work with Broadway's Wicked, Billy Elliot, Bring It On and Porgy and Bess.

Gordon Greenberg (Working, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris) will direct from a script by Chad Hodge (The Playboy Club, Wayward Pines).

The 1942 film featured Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire and Marjorie Reynolds, with a score by Irving Berlin featuring now-familiar holiday tunes, including "White Christmas", which earned the film the 1943 Academy Award for Best Original Song. HOLIDAY INN also received an Oscar nomination for Best Score and Best Original Story.

The plot follows Jim Hardy, Ted Hanover and Lila Dixon, three performers who star in a popular musical act in the New York City club scene. Jim is ready to stop performing, marry Lila and retire to a farm in Connecticut, but Lila has other plans -- and another love interest.

HOLIDAY INN will be performed September 19-November 30, 2014, following Goodspeed Musicals' production of DAMN YANKEES in the summer.
