Manhattan Theatre Club has announced the 2006 lineup for the "6 @ 7" reading series. "6 @ 7" presents six new works in development starting Monday, April 10. Each reading begins at 7 PM at New York City Center Stage II (131 West 55th Street).

Previous plays that have been developed in the" 6 @ 7" series and then produced on MTC's stages include the Pulitzer Prize-winning Proof by David Auburn, Fuddy Meers by David Lindsay-Abaire, Between Us by Joe Hortua, and Based on a Totally True Story by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa; which is currently playing at New York City Center Stage II.

Shelagh Stephenson's Fall Out will be presented on Monday, April 10th at 7 PM.
The reading will be directed by Lou Jacob.  "In the 1950's, a blacklisted screenwriter confronts scientist Robert Oppenheimer, with whom she has a shared past. A noirish tale of Hollywood, espionage, and the Manhattan Project by the author of An Experiment with an Air Pump. Fallout was commissioned by MTC through the Alfred P. Sloan Initiative."

The musical The Girl in the Frame--with book, lyrics and music by Jeremy Desmon and directed by Jeremy Dobrish, can be seen on Monday, April 17th at 7 PM.
"A tiny New York apartment gets even smaller as a young couple's wildest fantasies burst to life. A hunky fireman, a tuxedo-clad super-spy and the seductive "girl next door" turn one couple's cold feet into a fun and sexy parable of modern love. A four-character musical comedy seen at Goodspeed Musicals and London's Bridewell Theatre."

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's Good Boys and True will be presented on Monday, April 24th at 7 PM; Michael Bush will direct.  "Brandon Hardy is the kind of young man that makes St. Joe's Preparatory School proud. But when he's implicated in a scandal that threatens to destroy his future, his mother must sort fact from fiction and try to pick up the pieces.  Good Boys and True is a MTC commission."

Naomi Iizuka's Strike-Slip will be seen on Monday, May 1st at 7 PM.  Daniel Aukin will direct.  "In modern-day Los Angeles, life is one big eruption waiting to happen. People collide and tensions explode in this bracing look at multi-cultural L.A. by the author of 36 Views."

Jason Wells' Men of Tortuga, directed by MTC artistic director Lynne Meadow, will be presented on Monday, May 8th at 7 PM.  "Negotiation, conspiracy, and assassination: four power-brokers will stop at nothing to wreck a historic meeting. But when one of them takes a young idealist under his wing, his long-dormant conscience begins to reawaken."

Philip Seymour Hoffman will direct Stephen Adly Guirgis' The Little Flower of East Orange for Monday, May 22nd at 7 PM.  "In a Manhattan charity hospital, an unidentified woman floats in and out of consciousness. In prison, her son tries to figure out how she got there. A work-in-progress by the author of Jesus Hopped the A Train and Our Lady of 121st Street.  The Little Flower of East Orange is a MTC commission."

To RSVP for a reading or to be added to the "6 @ 7" mailing list, please email readings@mtc-nyc.org or call (212) 399-3000, ext. 163.
