Geva Theatre Center unveils its line-up for Plays in Progress 2013 to be held in the Nextstage on February 25, March 18 and March 25. Plays in Progress is a vibrant and innovative mix of plays by some of the most exciting playwrights working today. These plays are so new that they are not even published yet and through Geva's Plays in Progress program, writers can hear their work performed, discuss the play with the audience and then continue to work on the play to its next level.

"We're proud to introduce three talented playwrights to Rochester," commented Geva's Literary Director and Resident Dramaturg, Jenni Werner. "Andrew Rosendorf, Deb Laufer and Mat Smart have written intriguing, provocative plays that explore the limits of our dedication, the unreliability of memory and the intricacies of family dynamics. These three plays are both timely and universal, and I know that each of them will spark a great dialogue. I'm positive we'll see more from these writers, and Plays in Progress audiences can say they've been there from the very beginning."

Here is the line-up for Plays in Progress 2013:

Brilliant Corners
By Andrew Rosendorf
Feb. 25, 7pm
Through a series of haunting photographs we are introduced to a down-on-his-luck classical jazz aficionado, his photographer son, and a mysterious memory. As we meet the rest of the family, will new clues solve the mystery or make it even harder to tell fact from fiction? The staged reading will be followed by a conversation with the playwright.

Informed Consent
By Deborah Zoe Laufer
Directed by Sean Daniels
March 18, 7pm
With genomic breakthroughs happening at breakneck speed, we can learn more about what our futures may hold than ever before. But how much should we know? And who gets to decide? Based on a true story, Deborah Zoe Laufer takes us into the personal and national debate about science vs. belief. The staged reading will be followed by a conversation with the playwright.

Tinker to Evers to Chance
By Mat Smart
Directed by Sean Daniels
March 25, 7pm
A missing woman, a frantic daughter and an unlikely partnership. An historic Cubs/Giants game with a poetic double play. The promise of opening day and the romance of games gone by. A new play by Mat Smart about devotion and baseball, and the space where they intersect. The staged reading will be followed by a conversation with the playwright.

The plays will be presented in an informal, script-in-hand performance format and are followed by a discussion with the playwright. Plays in Progress 2013 is part of Geva Theatre Center's ongoing commitment to developing and producing new work for the American theatre.

Admission to the Plays in Progress 2013 readings is free, but reservations are required. Due to the popularity of this event, patrons are limited to two tickets per person. Call the Geva Theatre Center Box Office at 585-232-Geva (4382) or visit www.gevatheatre.org for tickets. Play readings sell out quickly, but tickets often become available the night of the performance.
