Gets, Lozano Join Cast Of A VISIT FROM THE GOON SQUAD 6/10

The Insights & Revelations Performance Series, in residence at The Emelin Theatre, announces its June 10th, 8:00 p.m. presentation.

Malcolm Gets, Tony-nominated Broadway (Amour, Passion, Dreamgirls), Film (Sex & The City), and Television actor (Caroline in the City) and award-winning theatre, film, and television actress Florencia Lozano ("Tea," ABC's One Life To Live) will read from Jennifer Egan's book, A Visit From The Goon Squad, to be released just days before our event. A leading actress will be announced shortly. In addition to these readings, the evening will include a live musical interlude - with Westchester's own Singer/Songwriter Josh Rutt (featured in Westchester Magazine as one of the five best up-and-coming local musicians) - as well as a creative discussion and reception with Egan and cast. The evening will be directed by Lisa Rothe, whose stage productions can be seen in theatres across the country.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

Jennifer Egan (Author) is a novelist, short story writer and journalist. She is the author of The Invisible Circus, which was released as a feature film in 2001, Emerald City and Other Stories, Look at Me, which was nominated for the National Book Award in fiction in 2001, and most recently The Keep, a national bestseller. She is a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Fiction, and a fellowship at the Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at The New York Public Library. Her short stories have appeared in Harpers, The New Yorker, Zoetrope, GQ, and other magazines. Her non-fiction articles appear frequently in the

New York Times Magazine. Her 2002 cover story on homeless children received the Carroll Kowal Journalism Award, and her most recent article, The Bipolar Kid, received a 2009 NAMI Outstanding Media Award for Science and Health Reporting from the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Malcolm Gets (Actor) most recently appeared in Terrence McNally's "The Lisbon Traviata" at the Kennedy Center, and on HBO's "Grey Gardens." He has appeared in New York in "Amour" (Tony and Drama Desk nominations), "The Story of My Life," "Vigil," "Boys and Girls," "Polish Joke," "A New Brain," "The Two Gentlemen of Verona" (Obie Award), "Merrily We Roll Along" (Drama Desk nomination and Obie Award), "Hello, Again," "Juno," "The Moliere Comedies," and "The Apple Tree" and "The Boys From Syracuse", both for the Encores! Series. He was Richard, the tortured artist, on NBC's "Caroline in the City." Films include "Sex and the City," "Adam and Steve," "Thirteen Conversations About One Thing," and "Love in the Time of Money." He has sung at Cabarets and Concert Halls across the country, and made his Carnegie Hall debut opposite Barbara Cook in "Mostly Sondheim", available on DRG. In addition to a dozen Original Cast CD's, he recently released his first solo CD, "The Journey Home," available on ITunes and Amazon.
Florencia Lozano (Actress). Florencia's career spans the realms of television, film and stage. Born in Princeton, NJ and raised in Newton, MA, Florencia has earned degrees from Brown University and New York University. She played the tough as nails attorney ‘Téa Delgado' on the daytime drama "One Life to Live." Due to Florencia's dynamic portrayal, this character became one of daytime television's most popular characters. Her television work continues in hit shows such as "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Lipstick Jungle," "Ugly Betty," and the "Gossip Girl" pilot. Florencia has also appeared in numerous films. She played opposite Halle Berry and Bruce Willis in the film "Perfect Stranger," and recently starred in Franc Reyes' "The Ministers" with Harvey Keitel and John Leguizamo. Some of Florencia's other film credits include "Bittersweet Place," "Deception," "Transbeman," and "Veronika Decides to Die."

In addition to her film and television work, Florencia is also an accomplished stage actress and playwright. She is an associate artist director at the acclaimed LAByrinth Theater Company, where she is also a company member. Her play, "underneathmybed" will be produced in Buenos Aires, Argentina this summer and in New York City as part of the Rattlestick Theatre Company's 2010/2011 season, directed by Pedro Pascal.
Lisa Rothe (Director) recently joined the staff of the Lark Play Development Center as the Director of Offsite Porgrams and Partnerships, where she deals with providing expanded opportunities for playwrights "off campus" and strategic multi-lateral partnerships aimed at advancing new work to production nationally and globally. She has workshopped, developed and directed many new plays. Recent directing credits include: Interpreting William by James Still (Indiana Repertory); Looking for the Pony by Andrea

Lepcio (Synchronicity Performance Group @ Seven Stages in Atlanta); Penelope by Ellen McLaughlin and composer Sarah Kirkland Snider (Getty Villa, Gallatin School in NYC, Princeton University); Ah, Wilderness! (Chautauqua Theatre Company); Couldn't Say by Christopher Wall (MITF - Best Director Award) as well as productions for NYMF and SPF. She also received an EST/Sloan Foundation grant with composer Kim Sherman and librettist Margaret Vandenburg for work on Ada, a new chamber opera. Member: Women's Project Director's Lab Alum, Epic Theatre Center, Drama League alum, Fox Fellow. Guest Director: NYU Graduate Acting, Juilliard and Yale School of Drama. MFA: NYU Graduate Acting. 

Josh Rutt (Singer/Songwriter) was born and raised in New Rochelle. A singer/songwriter/piano man, Rutt showcases with passion and purpose his unique brand of pop/rock/soul music, pleasing the ears of a growing fan base while making each show a memorable experience. His music, new yet familiar, soulful and catchy, is matched perfectly by his powerfully emotional lyrics and his distinctive, smooth and soothing voice.
