George Takei to Narrate ASO's SCI-FI SPECTACULAR This Weekend

Actor and social media icon George Takei, known from his starring role as "Mr. Sulu" from the original "Star Trek" television show, will narrate the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's "Sci-Fi Spectacular." The show will feature some of film's most popular scores, including the theme from "Star Wars," "E.T.," "Superman," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and many more.

Principal Pops Conductor of the Baltimore and Indianapolis Symphonies Jack Everly will take the podium to lead Soprano Kristen Plumley, Atlanta chorus "OurSong" and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in a night filled with sci-fi songs, characters and memories. Members of the Georgia Garrison of the 501st Legion will also be in attendance as "Storm Troopers" -- iconic characters from George Lucas' "Star Wars."

About the Artists:

George Takei, an actor best known for his portrayal of Mr. Sulu in the acclaimed television and film series "Star Trek" has more than 40 feature films and hundreds of television guest-starring roles to his credit.

Jack Everly is the Principal Pops Conductor of the Baltimore and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestras, Naples Philharmonic Orchestra.

Connecticut native Kristen Plumley brings her joy of being on stage to every role she performs.

OurSong is Atlanta's only mixed gay and lesbian chorus. Its singers, directors, accompanists and non-singing members serve in a volunteer capacity.

Box office hours are Monday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
