Miranda Jonte's world premiere play, Greasemonkey, pays homage to her northern Californian roots, and is inspired by the modern day love poetry of Alice Walker, Noel Coward and James Tipton. Stephen Brotebeck (Movement Associate, Peter and the Starcatcher; Director, 29 Lives, New York Theatre Barn) will direct the production, which runs February 13 through 24, 2013 at the Robert Moss Theater at 440 Studios (440 Lafayette Street, near East 7th Street).

Mara has just taken over her very-recently-deceased dad's position at a vintage car restoration shop in Berkeley, CA, run by his best friend of 30 years. She meets, and is pursued by, Patrick, a younger man who is a professor of anthropology at the local university. Hesitantly, she allows herself to fall in love with him. But life gets complicated when Mara runs into the love her life Daniel while visiting Boston.

Greasemonkey features a cast including Josh Bywater (The Story, Goodman Theatre), Kerry Flanagan (Tammy Faye: A Musical), A.J. Heekin (EBE Ensemble), Miranda Jonte (Malfi, Inc.,Milk Can Theatre Company), Morgan McCann (National Tour: Oklahoma!), Elliott Mayer (Stuyvesant Town: This Is Your Story), Leajato Amara Robinson (The Old Man and the Sea, Long Wharf Theatre) and Cathy L. Simpson (Divine Gypsies dance company).

The performance schedule of Greasemonkey is February 13 through 24, Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 1:00 pm, at the Robert Moss Theater at 440 Studios (440 Lafayette St., near 7th Street; Subway: N/R to 8th Street or 6 to Astor Place).
