Florida Repertory Theatre has announced the opening of its 2014-15 Season with the hot, new, Tony-winning BEST COMEDY, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.

One of the most popular new plays in America right now, this zany story of siblings growing older plays in the Historic Arcade Theatre Oct. 31-Nov. 19, with four nearly sold-out discounted preview performances Oct. 28-30.

"I can't tell you how excited we are to open our 17th season with such a fresh, witty, zany, and very heartfelt comedy," said Founder and Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo, "written by one of the best comic writers of the last twenty years, Christopher Durang, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike is as funny as it is heartwarming. It is a really well constructed play about sibling rivalry, disappointment, aging, changing times, and relationships. It's been called a very bright play about very gloomy people, and I know it will make you laugh...a lot!"

In this hilarious comedy, Vanya and his sister, Sonia-along with their clairvoyant housekeeper, Cassandra-are paid a surprise visit by their movie star sibling, Masha, and her new boy-toy, Spike. Durang borrows characters and themes from Chekhov, pours them into a blender, mixes them up, and the results are an utterly hilarious and occasionally touching story of regret, disappointment, and growing older. Newsday called Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike "one of the funniest comedies Broadway has seen in seasons!"

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike features a dynamite ensemble cast that includes Florida Rep Company Members, Viki Boyle as Sonia (Arsenic and Old Lace; Noises Off) and Michelle Damato as Cassandra (Sylvia; Heart Song); Florida Rep regulars, Graham Smith as Vanya (Camping with Henry and Tom; My Three Angels) and Kim Ostrenko as Masha (You Can't Take It with You); as well as exciting newcomers, Ryan George as Spike and Courtney Feiman as Nina, making their Florida Rep debuts.

Founder & Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo (Clybourne Park; Social Security), directs the production and is joined by an expert team of designers including set designer Richard Crowell (Arsenic and Old Lace), lighting designer Robert Robins (Florida Rep Debut), costume designer Alexandria Hoffman (Florida Rep Debut), sound designer John Kiselica (Florida Rep Debut), and production stage manager Amy L. Massari (The Fantasticks).

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang plays Oct. 31-Nov. 19 in the Historic Arcade Theatre with four nearly sold-out previews on Oct. 28 at 8pm, Oct. 29 at 2pm and 8pm, and Oct. 30 at 8pm. Regular performances are Tues.- Sat. at 8pm, with matinees on Wed., Sun. and selected Saturdays.

Priced at $49/$45 and $29/$25 for discounted previews, single tickets are now on sale through the box office at 239-332-4488 and online at www.floridarep.org.
