First Look At Bobby Cannavale In ANNIE Movie Remake! New Photos With Foxx, Byrne, Etc.2013 Emmy Award-winning stage and screen star Bobby Cannavale plays a newly written part in the contemporary big screen movie musical remake of classic family-friendly musical ANNIE, that of chief political advisor to Benjamin Stacks - that is, a re-appropriated Daddy Warbucks, played in the film by Jamie Foxx - and the first look at the charismatic actor in action, filming on location is now available.

Effortlessly carrying off three distinct looks in a parade of stylish suits tailor-made to his tall and athletic frame, Cannavale can be seen hamming it up with Foxx and co-star Rose Byrne in a humorous food bank-set sequence recently shot in Brooklyn, while in another location shoot - this one in Tribeca - Cannavale and Byrne are joined by co-star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Stack's chauffeur as well as Annie herself, Quvenzhane Wallis.

Most recently revealed, a scene set on the Manhattan streets with Cannavale sharing yet another moment with Foxx, Byrne and Adewale can now be glimpsed, as well as a peek at the actor and his real-life paramour (Byrne) sharing some time between takes together while on set, too.

Of note, Cannavale discussed his role in the film as well as what we can expect from a new musical sequence featuring his character and Miss Hannigan, played by Cameron Diaz, in a previous BroadwayWorld article, available here.

Check out BroadwayWorld's coverage all about the ongoing filming of ANNIE in NYC in the first round-up, available here, as well as a first look at the logo and orphans, available here, a first look at Rose Byrne on set, here, and last week's round-up, here.

ANNIE is directed by Will Gluck from a script by Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna, starring Quvenzhane Wallis as Annie, Jamie Foxx as Benjamin Stacks (aka Daddy Warbucks), Cameron Diaz as Miss Hannigan along with Rose Byrne as Grace Farrell and Bobby Cannavale in a new role.

The starry roster of producers for the film include Will Smith and Jay Z, who also serves as music supervisor. Jay Z famously had a Top Ten hit with a rap version of the show's famous orphan theme "It's A Hard Knock Life" called "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)".

ANNIE is reportedly a modern-day adaptation of the stage musical, set in contemporary New York City.

Historically, the property was previously first filmed by famed director John Huston in 1982, starring Aileen Quinn as Annie and Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks, as well as lensed by CHICAGO helmer Rob Marshall in 1999, starring Alicia Morton and Victor Garber.

The original stage musical of ANNIE was based on Harold Gray's 1924 comic strip LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE and was directed by Martin Charnin, featuring music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Charnin and a book by Thomas Meehan. Subsequently, the musical has been revived on Broadway twice, with the most recent revival playing at the Palace Theatre, directed by James Lapine and starring Lilla Crawford in the title role.

The big screen remake of ANNIE is set to be released in December 2014.
