'ABCs of Producing Off Broadway' Seminar Set for Today

The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents, and marketing firms, will hold another in its Sunday Seminars series, focused on the culture, business and history of Off Broadway today, September 29th.

The seminar, titled "ABCs of Producing Off Broadway" will feature Dan Goggin (NUNSENSE, NUNSENSE A-MEN,NUNSENSE 2), R. Erin Craig (I'M GETTING MY ACT TOGETHER AND TAKING IT ON THE ROAD, ACADEMY), and Christine Cox (THE AMAZING MAX AND THE BOX OF INTERESTING THINGS, and Administrator of the Off Broadway Alliance Mentorship Program). Hugh Hysell, President of HHC Marketing and producer of VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE and PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, will moderate the discussion.

"ABCs of Producing Off Broadway" will be held at The Snapple Theater Center's Jerry Orbach Theater. Doors will open at11:30am for complimentary coffee and bagels. The panel will take place from Noon - 1:30pm with additional time allotted afterward for conversation with fellow attendees. The Snapple Theater Center is located at 210 West 50th Street (at Broadway).

About The Off Broadway Alliance: The Off Broadway Alliance is a non-profit corporation organized by theater professionals dedicated to supporting, promoting and encouraging the production of Off Broadway theater and to making live theater increasingly accessible to new and diverse audiences. The Alliance operates the OBA Mentorship Program, which provides new producers with guidance and direction from Off Broadway veterans. And the Alliance created the Off Broadway Economic Impact Report, which outlines Off Broadway's over $500 million annual impact on the economy of the City of New York.

About The Panelists:

Dan Goggin (Writer/Director/Producer) began his professional career singing in the Broadway production of Luther starring Albert Finney. While appearing in a comic folk duo, he started writing. This led to scores for the Off-Broadway musical HARK!,the Broadway production of LEGEND and two revues. Goggin received the 1986 Outer Critics Circle Awards given toNUNSENSE for Best Musical, Best Book and Best Music. NUNSENSE and NUNSENSE 2, both starring Rue McClanahan, have been recorded for TV, as well as NUNSENSE JAMBOREE with Vicki Lawrence. NUNSENSE A-MEN! opened in New York in June 1998. NUNCRACKERS: THE NUNSENSE CHRISTMAS MUSICAL on PBS starring Rue McClanahan with guest John Ritter, received an Emmy nomination for Best Musical Score. MESHUGGAH-NUNS: THE ECUMENICAL NUNSENSEpremiered in 2002. Christine Cox made her producing debut with the Off-Broadway show THE AMAZING MAX AND THE BOX OF INTERESTING THINGS. The show ran successfully to rave reviews from the NY Times, Huffington Post, and PBS Kids while playing for 15 months and returns this November. With The Off Broadway Alliance she created the brand new OBA Mentorship Program, which pairs Off-Broadway professionals with novice producers seeking guidance on a specific artistic/theatrical project.As an entrepreneur she owns NYC based children's entertainment companies (MISS CHRISTINE and A PRINCESS VISIT),and was most recently featured on the "Today" Show and Launchher.com's 40 under 40 list. As a dancer, teaching artist and choreographer she has worked with the Lincoln Center Institute and SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. She has appeared in and choreographed regional Theater Productions (GUYS AND DOLLS, Will Rogers FOLLIES, THE WIZARD OF OZ), and International tours (Asian tour, THE MAGICAL SCHOOL FOR WIZARDS). She is also the creator of "5th Grade Ballroom Stars," a dance program that teaches respect through ballroom dance.

Hugh Hysell is a Tony Award-winning Broadway producer and award-winning marketer. His Broadway producing projects include VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE (2013 Tony Award for Best Play), PETER AND THE STARCATCHER(winner of 5 Tony Awards) and IMPRESSIONISM. Off-Broadway he has produced THE ALL-MALE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST (also conceived and directed), Y-2-GAY THE MUSICAL (also conceived and directed) and SEAMEN THE SAILOR MUSICAL (also conceived and directed).
