The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced a special screening of Wayne Wang's Soul of a Banquet to be held at the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center (144 West 65th Street) on Saturday, October 19 at 7:00PM. The director and documentary subject, Cecilia Chiang will be in attendance for a Q&A immediately following the screening.

Wayne Wang (The Joy Luck Club) surprises audiences again with his twentieth feature and first documentary, about San Francisco restaurateur and chef Cecilia Chiang. Merely intending to capture footage of the then-92-year-old Chiang (who counts culinary legends James Beard, Alice Waters, and Julia Child among her students), preparing a banquet in her apartment, Wang became so enraptured with his subject (who founded SF's legendary restaurant The Mandarin in 1961) that he opted to expand his project to a feature-length account of Chiang's extraordinary life, an oral history of Chinese food in America, and a mouth-watering spectacle of Chiang concocting her cuisine. Chef Alice Waters and food writer Ruth Reichl provide context for this nourishing multi-course feast.

Tickets are on sale now: $13; $9 for students and seniors (62+); and $8 for Film Society members.
